I plan on getting the stackable washer and dryer .... I was wondering about the diswasher .... How much can you put in there? It doesn't look very big and wasn't sure how practical it was, although it will be just me in the unit most of the time. My dishwasher in the house is great to hide those dirty dishes, so .... how much can I hide in that thing?

Princess Kathleen,

Maybe at the rally all of us attendees can bring our dirty dishes over to you for a demonstration?:D

Dish Drawer

We hide our dirty dishes in the Fisher & Paykel Dish Drawer during the day and run it every night. It holds a day's dishes for the two of us. We use nonstick cooking pots and pans, so they do not need to go in. It is very quiet. We are very happy that we got it.

Dishwasher

Yes, a days worth of dishes, cups, glasses, silverware, and cooking utensils:D

Again, only a teaspoon of dish washing liquid and a minimum of 38 minutes and you have clean dishes....quiet....:p

I still enjoy the washing machine combo...it is so much quicker , quieter, and does not walk out on the floor as did the heavy duty washer I had a my stick home....and you do not have to be at home to change the clothes over:D .....again little bit of powder and water....Only if they fold themselves and put themselves away.

After watching me wash dishes for the past four days in our current 5vr my husband mentioned that he thought the dishwasher might be nice for me. Thoughtful man! My question is what can you not put in the dishwasher? What do you still have to wash by hand? Do the dishes come out clean the first time through?

Also we originally had thought that we would have the washer/dryer unit, but have heard that you can put so little in them and that they take so long to dry that it hardly is worth it. I see posts to the contrary. If you respond please tell me which unit you have, what percentage of a load you can put in compared to the normal small Laundromat unit and how long it takes to do a load such as jeans or towels.

TIA for your replies.

Don and Sheri,

I've been actively keeping up with the forum as I recover from a recent knee surgery but have not posted anything since I have gotten back with my recent Landmark purchase. I would like to tell you about my Majestic stackable washer and dryer that I ordered with my coach.

Now that I have been able to use both machines, I know what to do and how much to wash at one time to get the best results. I can wash three pair of jeans very well and dry them also. Most times I take them out prior to complete drying to keep them from wrinkling too much. I can wash the 4 very large bath towels easily and dry them completely and it takes about 45 minutes in the dryer. I stay by myself in the unit fulltime during the week and the washing that is done is mine .... both the machines do a great job and I use the new concentrated detergent for front end washers. It was hard to get used to the small amount needed but it does the job and the washer works great. I wanted the stackable so I could wash and dry at the same time or use the either/or machine when I wanted to. No complaints with my machines ... they are quiet, I get a little vibration when the washing machine is spinning at times but other than that .... I'm happy and I'm glad I have them!

Hope this helps!

No need to prewash with the F/P drawer dishwasher. It is a very good dishwasher built for residential use, not special for RV's. My brother has the same brand in his new house, and they were pricey. My wife often will rinse off the dishes and put them in the DW, and then run a full load about every 4-5 days. When I'm there it gets full about twice as fast. Very very quiet, cleans as good as any I've ever owned.
We have a stacked Whirlpool washer and dryer. They are slightly smaller than the normal full size, what you might call apartment size. Again these are residential and not special RV units. They do an excellent job, and the dryer came wired for 110V. This is a very common brand and easy to find someone to repair it if it should become necessary. The W/D was a dealer installed item.

We are full-timers. We have the Fisher&Paykel Dishwasher (DW) and the Splendide 2100 Washer/Dryer (W/D). Both are GREAT! We scrape but do not rinse the plates before putting them in the DW. We cook breakfast and dinner most days, so we run it every day. We use Caphalon non-stick cookware, so they do not go in the DW. Everything else goes in if it fits (most things do fit). Everything gets clean. On a side note, the DW is in the space that an oven could be in. We use the Convection Microwave for all of our cooking that needs an oven. We have baked hams, chickens, roast beef and pork loin. We make from-scratch pizzas every week or two.
The size of the W/D is very nice - we have the top half of the cabinet for other uses. There are two ways to use the W/D. One way is to load a dryer-size load and run the complete W/D cycle. This is nice when we are going to be gone for a long time. We come home to a dry load. The other way is to do a full washer load and then dry in 2 loads. We do this when we are home.

Ray is right on the dishwasher and combo w/d. Each take small amounts of detergent and water. We use environmentally safe cleaners in both. I just think there are better things to do (such as watch the Tetons, hiking, looking at this beautiful country) than stand over a sink and wash dishes or wait on clothes to get done.

Which would be approximately how much each?

Splendide 2000

I had mine outfitted with the Splendide because I wanted to be able to set it once and let it wash and dry. It really works great. I am not able to go two weeks without washing clothes anymore, but I do two loads per week, one whites and one for the rest.

The park I am in right now doesn't have 50 AMP service, so I am learning about shutting off the A/C before washing clothes, before using the microwave, and before vacuuming. Therefore, I have been waiting until 9 or 10 at night, turning off the A/C and start the washer. I don't even notice it when I am in bed. The next day all is clean and dry.None

I am late to this thread.. but, in looking over the available options on the '08 Landmarks (looks like they are the '08s as they look different from a cpl of months ago), I don't see the dishwasher as a factory option... am I missing it somewhere or is this a dealer option? With the convection micro, we would rather have the D/W than the oven.

Thanks

The Landmark pages on the factory website are getting updated nearly daily with the "New" Landmark features. Looking tonight, I do not see the dishwasher option. See the list below of standards and options as of August 12, 2007.

I suggest you give your dealer a call to see if the factory will do a custom order for you. If they cannot, then I'd suggest you order it with a range top only (minus oven) and have your dealer or a service center install the drawer type dishwasher for you. I keep offering to get one for my wife but she doesn't mind doing them for the two of us. Good for me, otherwise I'd be installing one whose name was not Nancy, but Fisher & Paykel

Dishwasher

http://www.heartlandrvs.com/product.html?id=1&name=Landmark&section=gallery&cid=3

This is a link to the Heartland web page showing the kitchen stuff. The dishwasher is pictured????? But who is to say that it is available,

I know when we ordered back in Dec. 05 it was available, but by Feb 06 they emailed me and told me it was not. But, after talking to the dealer and Heartland....I have one.

Yes, there are only 2 of us, but it is really nice to have when you do not want to stand there and wash dishes after every meal, but go and explore this wonderful country. Besides I have had the use of a dishwasher for at least 30 years.....

Just put the dishes in push the button and it washes while you go and play....:D

Thanks for the info folks... kinda what I was thinking as I looked at the pictures and then read the list of "standards & options"... by the time I get ready to order/buy in late 2009 or early 2010, the options may or may not have changed. The wife says she would just as soon delete the oven to gain storage space but, Jim, like you, I keep offering to get the D/W. Even with just the two of us, I think it is a good option to have..

The way it is looking right now (and you know how plans tend to change over time), we are looking real hard at going up to Rv's For Less. From what I have seen (and received quotes for) they have some of the best pricing around.. We will probably make a trip up there next year just to talk to them and look around the facility and we will ask them about the D/W then...

Thanks again...
