New Elk Ridge, TV Questions

We just purchased our first Heartland, ElkRidge e292. It came without a TV as well, and it has the RCA cable already there from the stereo to where the TV will sit. Any idea if these stereos have HDMI connections? Any suggestions on a good TV? We previously had a used keystone copper canyon, so we just bought a cheap TV for it using the RCA connection. Appreciate your suggestions. Happy Trails!

Hello Charlie & Vicki, welcome to this great forum.
I moved your post into its own thread, you should get more help here.
I didn't know that a fifth wheel came without a TV. Did you order it that way?
Pictures on the Heartlandrvs web site show a TV.

I would call Heartland and see if it was supposed to come with a television. Ir's possible the dealer stiffed you on it...

Our Prowler is the exact same floor plan and didn't come with a TV, so I took the two we had in our Trail Runner and put them in.

Only have a 24" in the big entertainment center but am planning on putting a 32" there eventually.

As for HDMI from the stereo . . . nope . . . doesn't have it.

But I have a Sony BluRay player that sits under the TV and I run a cable from the headphone jack of the TV to the front input of the stereo.

We really like "Mattlock" and "Mangnum, PI". Just can't get much better than the 60's, 70's & 80's. Also Roy Rogers and The Lone Ranger from way back. :)

JohnD....really......the "Rifleman??? Maybe I should take pix of Perry Mason.

Here is the same TV, on the same channel (MeTV) . . . only when it was mounted in our Trail Runner:

Who is that on the TV screen?

The photo on the laptop was of a wildfire I took from the patio at our old house in Boulder.

Unfortunately it was an option, and we just chose to get the tv of our choice, which is becoming easier said than done.

I found it rather easy . . .

I bought one of the Vizio TV's at best buy, and the other one which was the same model only a different size at the Wal*Mart right next door to the Best Buy (neither store had both sizes in stock).

I had already bought two of these at Camping World:

Short of locating the backer plates . . . it was a piece of cake and took about a half hour to install both.

With the locking mount, do you still find it necessary to use the RV straps that I've seen in units on the lot?

Thanks JohnD! I am not sure about mounting a tv to the exterior wall though? I am looking at a shelf mount, use some carriage bolts to go through the tv shelf to hold it secure. That's just my thoughts on it.

Nope . . .

The lock securely to the wall, and I tip the TV down so the bottom two corners are flat against the wall to keep it from bouncing.

I have not had any rubbing issues, either.

In the Prowler, even though that is an outside wall, it is the entertainment center and is where the TV is meant to be mounted . . . and there is a backer plate in the wall just for that purpose.

Me tv is the best!

I know . . . I love it!

We don't get it in the house on Direct TV . . . so I have to go outside to the Prowler when I want to watch it.

I haven't done so in awhile . . .

I'm off on Thursday and it is supposed to rain, so maybe I'll go out there and watch it for awhile!

Plus, I've got a few things to do inside the trailer to get ready for our next camping trip in a couple of weeks.

We set up a 40 inch tv, and it fits perfectly. The dvd player wasn't working at first, so I had to change the way the rca cables were connected to the back of the stereo / dvd player. I removed them from the back, and connected them to the rca cable pig tail coming from the back of the stereo. You see, the inside speakers are on zone 2, therefore hooking up to the pigtail it worked. And of course zone 1 still works outside. I just gotta remember to turn zone 1 off when we put in a movie...lol!

Glad you got it figured out.

I only use the built-in stereo unit for sound only as I bought a Sony BluRay player with wifi to use in the trailer (can see it in the photo below).

I plan on going to a 32 inch TV in the entertainment center of our Prowler P292 so that I can use the same TV swivel mount that I already have.

Just waiting for extra funds as the truck needs new tires . . . and I would like to get a louvered tailgate . . . and we also need . . . you get the picture!

The bolt pattern on TV's larger than 32 inch are different.

To be honest, the 24 inch we have already mounted is plenty big enough, but it is just to small for that big opening and looks funny!

ProwlerEntCenter-P1000301.jpg

Those two cabinet doors above the TV's are loaded with DVD's and BluRay's . . . at least 100 all the way across!

If you have any issues with the coax cable lines in your 292 for the roof antenna and the cable run, I can help you with that.

Ours was so screwed up that our dealership didn't have a clue how to get it working . . . but I figured it out!

I fixed it once, then had our dealership 'fix it right' . . . and all they did was to hook it back up the way it came from the factory . . . not working!

So I went in and just hooked it up right by myself and now it works flawlessly!
