5th WHEEL HITCH

What is my best resource for information regarding where exactly to mount my TS3 in my short-bed truck? As you can tell I'm pretty new to this.

What truck do you have and do you already have a hitch mounting system or fifth wheel prep?

If TS3 is a Hensley I would talk to them, when I mounted my new (at the time) BD3 they were extremely helpful. I had read the instructions but still had questions that they were able to answer for me. Once you get the spot use the old rule " measure 3 times and drill once". When I bought the new 2015 I had bought a Kit made for the model truck from Reese that put the standard bed cross bars for mounting the hitch in a certain spot which was the correct spot. Unfortunately I don't have the instructions with me but you might be able to find them online or at the Reese site, I would also check you tube.

I don't have a shortbed p/u. If you have a TS3 then call Hensley and ask for a Simple Slide for it. It allows you to manually release the TS3 to move the hitch rearward. Otherwise the TS3 will mount in Standard rails in the bed of your truck.

I agree with the slider since the OP has a short bed.

I have a short bed and slider (Reese) . . .

I have not yet used the slider function, but I am glad I have it for when I will need it.

I've made some pretty tight turns without issues, but I've come close a couple of times to making contact, despite having the 88* turn radius on the Prowler.

I plan on using the slider function more this next camping season, especially when I back the trailer in our side yard as it is a pretty tight back-up.

That is a lot of hitch in a short bed truck. As far as hitches go, it is fairly long.

And that would an already expensive hitch even more costly.

"If" I needed a hitch for a short bed truck and wanted the extra peace of mind a slider gives, there is only one choice I would consider, the PullRite SuperGlide, coupled with an air pin box if desired.
