Xpedition Battery Warranty Process

With less than 6 months of use on my new 2020 Landmark Newport, I started experiencing battery issues. The Newport came with two group 24 Xpedition lead acid batteries. I experienced several instances during last summer where the hydraulics would exhibit errors due to low voltage (and this was after driving long distances but immediately disconnected from my truck). When I reconnected to my truck, the leveling system operated again.

After removing the batteries for seasonal care and charging, the smart charger showed that the batteries were exhibiting a problem taking a full charge. The batteries are sealed with no way to check electrolyte levels. Curiously the batteries have no date of service and no serial numbers.

Initially I called Heartland regarding warranty coverage. I was advised that Heartland does not manage the warranty on both tires and batteries - suggesting I contact the manufacturer for coverage. I called the "warranty" toll-free number on the top of the battery. Despite multiple calls, the battery company's voicemail mailbox has been full, or hangs up on me. The web site has an email address for inquiries - but my email was returned with a message indicating no-such-address.

A search on "Xpedition" indicates that RV owners of other makes have had poor experiences with this company.

I'm not waiting for a potential credit from this manufacturer (I would imagine it would be a very low amount anyway) - I'm ordering new batteries this week. I need to get my rig operational for the new year.

Heartland - if you're reading this - please reconsider your dealings with this supplier, or at the very least, renegotiate a better service level agreement.

Ian, the batteries are installed by the dealership. Heartland does not ship the units with batteries. So, you might contact your salesman/dealer for possible assistance. Lou

Although I didn't mention it in my initial posting, I did contact the dealer as my first step - they pointed me to Heartland Service.

I'm surprised they're Group 24. I'd expect Group 27. For your replacements, if you can fit them, go to at least Group 27 or 29.

Absolutely.... I'll be ordering Group 27. My trailer is in a storage area that does not have power (5 minutes from our house). We want to be able to put the residential fridge on the night before our trip - so that it is cold the next day. The plan is to put in a couple of Group 27 Lithium ION 75Ah batteries (total 150Ah). According to the fridge sticker, it draws between 2.5 and 3 amps. We do not otherwise dry camp.

I think you need about 30 amps DC into your inverter to produce 3 amps AC for your refrigerator.

so they are driven with no brake away system from factory to dealer? Wonder if there have been any incidents where this could have been an issue
