cyclone 4006 issues

We have a new 2021 Cyclone 4006, and being new trailer expected issues, and it hasnt let me down, pull down shades falling down because screws were to short, paneling coming loose because staples to small or had to much pressure and went threw paneling, a little wood glue or other adhesive would help hold together.

turned on 3 ac units, dont seem to blow cold air any one with experience in this area, had other toy haulers and no issues

ok, found out more about the power control, had to power up all 3 ac units on power control unit, got all 3 runnning and cooling but 1 unit will kick out and over amp notice displays. so fans run on all 3 but compressor gets shut down. if all 3 running mid unit cuts out, frt and rear continue to work. can run mid and frt or mid and rear. display shows generator 45 amps, but all 3 units together draw like 47 amps which is why 1 cuts out from what i can tell, so is it gen or ac issue? rear ac seems to cool the best, frt 2nd but makes noise, and mid doesnt seem to cool very well

Only had one piece of cheap trim come off back around the garage exit door. No big deal to re-glue it back on. I fully expect more to pop off in the future.

After traveling over 3 months in our new 4006 my main repair issues are:

1. LG residential frig has an ice maker that does not work. If we turn the water on it never shuts off for the ice maker and floods the freezer. LG tech came out and said it was probably a selinoid located at the back of the frig. The problem with the 4006 is that if you pull the 30" deep frig out you still have only 2" or 3" to reach behind the frig, making it impossible to fix anything back there. I still have to investigate to see if there is a way to access the back of the frig through the pantry wall or possibly the side wall out next to the mini frig.

2. Fantastic ceiling fan in the kitchen runs but the switch to open it doesn't work. I checked the 4-way wall switch and there is power to everything. When I check up at the motor that actually opens the vent there is no power. My conclusion is that the wire are seperated somewhere inside the ceiling or wall. Not an easy fix but I'm working on it.

3. Mircowave/convection went out. The factory was good about just taking my word for it and since I said I would install the new one they ordered the replacement. I wanted them to take one out of their stock but they refused, instead ordering it from their vendor. The problem is they can't tell me if I will get it in a week or a year, then have no idea. We had to go out and purchase a small cheap countertop mircowave to get us by for now.

I have owned both new and used RVs. I expected some issues since this 4006 was new. I guess what I am most disappointed in is the lack of customer support out of Heartland. When I explained that my dealer was clear out in Texas and I would rather make an appointment at their factory for a couple repairs they refused to let me. According the them they won't do customer warranty work at the factory unless it is something extremely major. They are living in a dream world if they think you can walk into a Heartland dealer and get them to fix your RV in a timely manner if you didn't purchase it from them. Therefore it leaves me to repairing these issues myself. At least they have been good about sending me the parts under warranty.

when your generator is running, how many amps show in the power control screen? do all 3 of your ac units cool at same time or do they cycle mine will cool with 2 but not 3rd, doesnt matter which 2.

@FL-JOE Thanks for the tip on making a trip to Elkhart. We were remotely thinking that would be the best option. You kind of put that thought into perspective for us. As for the Issues thus far...

@bigtphx good tip on the 2 AC units

New 2021 4006 as of late December, been traveling ever sense then. Here is my tick list of issues:

1. Entire hydraulic system went out in February and we were in TX at that time - during the storm. :)
Hartland replaced parts for this fix - new trombeta cilinoid and hydraulic system motor.

2. Norcold fridge would not flip to gas when needed. Lower spark control board was replaced by Norcold.

3. Back lavatory commode flush will no longer operate.

4. Back lavatory faucet leaks - will not shut off.

5. Lippert kitchen sink faucet leak found at base (cartridge). Cant replace cartridge.
Heartland replaced part and we installed.

6. Various molding and door jam fit issues between main and garage.

... probably more to come.

We plan on finding a heartland dealer or something later this summer and trying to get some of the undone stuff finished up.
They do respond with parts though. I can give them kudos for that if your willing to do installs.

The factory installed Onan generator supplies 5500 watts maximum, which is about 45 amps. The PCS detects that power is coming from the generator and adjusts the maximum power consumption to 45 amps. The Power Converter takes a certain amount of power, which varies depending on what 12V DC devices and lights are running, along with condition of the batteries.

The PCS is programmed to shed loads in a pre-determined order. So it sounds like it's doing exactly what it's supposed to do.

On our Road Warrior we have a 5500 Onan generator and when it is running it supplies 45 amps.

I was giving Heartland a little break due to covid and how it has effected some businesses this past year......but.

They ordered our replacement microwave/convection a month ago from their vendor. Heartland refused to take one out of their stock and let me either pick it up from the factory or send it to me (we are camped 2 hours away). They did offer to pay me $400 to go out and buy my own replacement even though I told them replacements were at least $600. When they ordered it my Heartland contact, Beverly, said the vendor "had no idea when it would be sent". Beverly agreed to alert me when it was being shipped to my campground.

Two days ago we finally decided the wait was gong to be too long so we emailed Beverly and told her we were heading out to purchase just a microwave instead of the microwave/convection combination so please send our $400. She answered and advised me I needed to email her a receipt. I emailed her not only a receipt but a photo of the junk OEM microwave/convection removed from above the stove so she would know it was actually headed to the dumpster (guess Heartland doesn't trust their customers even though we complete our own warranty work).

Anyway, I was going to install my new Maytag microwave the next day but hold on.......Beverly gives me a call and informs me my new unit will be delivered either that afternoon or the next day and she wants to know if I am refusing it. My days of being patient with these folks came to an end. I remind her that she was suppose to let me know when the stupid thing was shipped, and of course she has no answer for that failure. I remind her again of all the issues we have fixed ourselves with no help from them under warranty, still she has zero explanation for these failures.

Well the stupid microwave never showed up that day or the next. I guess we will see if it shows up today or if this was all just another failure on Heartlands part and the microwave was never really shipped in the first place.

We certainly would never purchase another Heartland product unless we were part time campers living within 10 miles of a dealer.

I almost forgot the update on my other warranty issues I’m attempting to fix on my own, bad selinoid on ice maker and fantastic fan motor.
Requested wiring diagram from Heartland 10 days ago, haven’t seen it so fan isn’t getting done. They determined the slide must be pulled for a frig repair. When I asked why they didn’t make an access door or design it another way they said the reason they put a “high end” LG residential frig in was because it should never need to be pulled. I told them apparently that was bad engineering because there are at least 5 other owners of 2021 4006 models that have broken LG ice makers.

Appliances are usually put in the rig late in the build cycle, so it seems unlikely that you'd have to pull the slide to work on the fridge, even if someone told you that. More likely the doors to the fridge have to be taken off so it'll fit through the door. That's how things usually work.

Even if the fridge just won't fit through the door, it would seem like it could be pulled away from the wall to get to the back of the unit. If say, a kitchen island were in the way, it's about 100 times easier to move an island than to pull the slide out of the unit.

If you're trying to fix this on your own, have you looked at how you might pull the fridge away from the wall?

Believe me when I tell you the LG residential frig in my 4006 is stuffed back in a large door slide that has the pantry next to it. Yes, it would be possible to remove the island, all the plumbing, and the kitchen drains to slid the frig out far enough, but who in their right mind would design a frig location this way. If the doors of the frig are removed it would allow about 4” of space. I’m pretty certain that is not enough to reach around to access the whole back of the frig.

I’ve just learned to live with using ice cube trays and making sure I stay away from Heartland branded products in the future.

As far as the ice issue is concerned, I have been happy over the years using a freestanding "tabletop" water reservoir type ice maker like this. I have been able to buy them for around $100, and they have lasted typically 3-5 years. They make a small load of ice every 12-15 minutes until the ice detector detects it is full of ice, or the water supply is used up. Do a websearch to find the one you like. There are hundreds of these online.

We used to have a tabletop ice maker years ago when our RV was equipped with a medium sized RV type frig. It worked great because compared to using the frigs freezer, it produced ice faster.

Thanks for input. We may have to end up with one again. I’m still hoping for a solution for our LG to be repaired.

As the first year with our 4006 continued we managed to get about 90% of the defects corrected.

The cheap microwave they sent us that I installed will have to be replaced again. The keypad is already showing wear after only a few months and every once and awhile it doesn't work at all.

We got "permission" from Heartland to have a mobile tech service work on our rear black tank gate valve and our kitchen ceiling vent/fan. They found that the black tank gate valve was mounted at a 45 degree angle thus forcing the long run of cable to kink. This would only push the gate valve closed part way, letting solids stay in the tank but allowing everyting else to seep out. They recut the existing cable and it is working for now.

When they tore apart the ceiling fan they found Heartland had used wire nuts designed for small double 12 volt wires instead of the required larger ones. Two wire had come apart and why they hadn't started a fire in the ceiling if beyond me. They found a total of six connections that had been made with these tiny wire nuts in that ceiling area so they replaced them all with the proper ones.

In summary, every issue we have experienced with new 4006 could have been avoided if things were installed properly. With each issue it was obvious that the factory line workers were improperly trained. Hooking up water lines to the wrong place on the back of refrigerators, running gas lines across sharp edges, using the wrong size wire nuts, zero understanding of how to wire ceiling surround speakers, installing gate valves crooked, on and on.........

Between the gas line install and the faulty wire nuts it is a miracle that we actually survived our first few months full time traveling in this thing. I believe we now have most if not all of the hazardous issues corrected. Shame on Heartland for turning out products like this to the public.

New 2022 cyclone 4006. Yea we have many issues but they are trying to fix them all it is frustrating. Newest issues and wondering if anyone else. Black tank shows completely empty and it is but next day 3/4 full which of course isn’t possible. We’ve only been in it 2 months so it’s not build up. Any suggestions or is it possible just bad sensor.

My experience with RV sensors on these holding tanks is they are all junk. Two of my four stopped working the first couple months. I simply keep track myself and don’t check any of them anymore.
