Child locks from Walmart or any other big chain work well. You can get the universal kind that can be adjusted for length.

We used something like this: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Safety-1st-OutSmart-Multi-Use-Lock-Black/948523396

The exact kind we had both sides could be removed and the strap stored someplace when not in use. Our pantry door kept coming open and after a broken jar of pasta sauce, we didn't want to take any more chances!
We use this one: http://www.walmart.com/ip/2pc-Dream...net-Cupboard-Doors-Child-Baby-Proof/352462578
Its a two pack, still on the first one. We have a side by side so it works for us.

Best thing is to tie the door handles together. Those plastic locks are junk

The child safety strap locks from Jool Baby Products make childproofing a house as simple as it gets. These refrigerator locks have movable straps that enable them to be used on a variety of furniture and appliances.

Hope you learned a lesson from it breaking. It will break again with the same results. We tie our handle together after ours broke
