Level Up system sensor location

We have a 2018 Bighorn 3970RD and after traveling home from Florida on some very rough interstate roads our auto level function wants to raise one side of the rig much higher than the other side. I'm thinking that possibly the sensor for the side to side level has come loose and is giving false readings to the system. Does anyone know where this sensor is located? I found the front to back sensor (I think) mounted high inside the front compartment but need help with the side to side sensor location.

Mine is located in the underbelly center above the front axle. You will need to cut an access panel in the Coroplast.

Unscrew and drop the coroplast near the rear axle hanger, on the door-side, of the rig just enough to see the hanger.. Use a flashlight to see if the sensor is still attached to the frame cross-rail. If both sensors are still attached, and wiring is still intact, you likely need a new sensor, I know I did. I took a gamble and replaced the front sensor on mine.

Look for a screw head centerline near axels, sensor should be located above this area. Screw head attaches coroplast to cross member and sensor is located on a platform on this cross member. Mine fell off and I had to reset it. I released some screws on the side and used a broom handle to push down underbelly until I spotted sensor lying on material. I cut 3 sided opening (leave front side uncut) remounted sensor and used Gorilla tape to seal opening.

Mine has 2 sensors, one between the front jacks in the control unit and one between the rear jacks

I have had the same issue with my new 2021Bighorn 3870FB bought last October. I went to unscrew the Coroplast this morning, and no dice. It is attached with Steel pin nails with large washers. I got one out, barely, but not enough slack to see inside. These nails have a hex 7mm head, but most of them have some black plastic coating that makes it extremely difficult to get a socket on to turn it to loosen it up enough to get a screw driver under the washer to pry it out. Should have taken pictures.

I did see an hex head sheet metal screw just behind the rear jacks.

Any ideas on how to proceed?

Would this be the likely location of the rear Level Sensor? There is a cross member there with the 2 screws through the coroplast. I don;t feel any plate on either front or back side of the cross member.

The rear sensor is supposed to be approximately 12" behind the rear jacks...in the center of the coach attached to a cross member. I doubt you will see any fasteners visible on the outside of the coroplast covering on that attachment point. And yes there is a front sensor as well, it again is supposed to be in the front compartment on your fiver mounted to the ceiling in the center.

I had found the front control unit/sensor. It's the rear sensor. In my picture, the screws visible is where I can fell a cross member. It's a bit more than 12" behind the rear jacks. I really didn't feel for a cross member forward of that one. I will get up under it tomorrow.

use an impact driver to remove to hex head nails. Anything else will probably just snap them off. Location looks correct and platform is on the top edge of the cross member so you won’t be able to feel it.

It's a nail. No threads. I did get one out with a 1/4" socket to loosen, and a screwdriver to pry it put as i turned it. This is going to be a lot of work.

Have you tried leveling manually and re-zero the system? My Cyclone has gotten out of wack from rough travels every now and then and I have to re-zero and and it works great after that.

Yes.

I removed some of the nails and saw nothing on the back cross member. Got email from Heartland CSR and she said it should be on cross member above the rear axle. Pulled more nails, looked inside with flashlight, and there it was. Laying loose on its side on the coroplast.

So, now deciding if I'm to remove the rear15+ feet of Coroplast for access, or cut a flap and tape it up.
There sure is a lot if loose screws and stuff laying on the coroplast. Including a 1/2" locknut.

I would and have cut access panels. Removing the Coroplast is easy, putting it up not so easy.
I used a 1x2 on the topside of the Coroplast half on the flap side and half on the stationary side and screwed both sides to it. Then Gorilla tape. 10 years and still in place.

Cut a 3-side flap in the bottom as suggested. I have 2 or 3 flaps in the bottom on this thing.

Found it. Laying on its side, and both self tap screws, in front of the cross member next to the back shackle mount of the rear axle. Obviously the installer thought using the self tappers as drill bits to enlarge the holes on the sensor was a great idea. The mounting pad isn't exactly mounted well either.

I cut a small flap, and remounted with stainless pan head screws and Nylocks. Cleaned the coroplast and taped with black Gorilla Tape.

Manually leveled the RV, set zero, and now the auto level works as it should.
