psx1 power stabilizer motor

Not sure where to put this question, does psx1 power stabilizer motors have shear pins? Some times they work go up and down, and other times they don’t move. Worn gear spins. But that’s it. I have to crank them manually for a second, then If I use the button they move again .. they always work manually.

Thank you again for helping out you all…

Without being familiar with your motor, is it possible there’s a loose internal electrical connection that you could access by opening it up? Once had a problem with a Ground Control motor that had a butt connection come apart under the cover. Easy fix, once I opened it up.

My guess would be worn brushes on the motor. I don't know if it has shear pin, but if it did, once sheared it wouldn't work at all.
Best guess is you need a new motor.

Do you mean that the worm gear is spinning while the motor is running or that you can turn the worm gear by hand? If by hand, there could be a dead spot in the motor.

So misunderstood your first post.

If the worm gear spins using the motor, but the legs won't go down, it would suggest the either the end of worm gear or the threaded stud on the legs are worn or damaged by over-travel. Or the worm gear thread wasn't made properly in during manufacture. If the legs go to the ground and are able to lift the trailer, it would suggest the problem might be with the worm gear.

You don't say how old your trailer is. So don't know if this is a warranty issue.

I don't know if you can disassemble the stabilizer or even if parts are available. You may have to contact Lippert for that.

You might try not raising the legs to their fully closed position (leave the down an inch or so). That might get you in business as an interim solution.

Thank you, I’ll look into that and try your idea for now… it would be a warranty issue it’s a 2022 fuel 287. If I can ever get it to Camping world, ugh, I don’t have 3 months for them to keep it lol ..

Ok I looked at it today, stabilizers go down, then once they touch the pads, the motor still runs but worn gear stops all together.. manually works perfect. Just once any tension at all and the worm gear stops spinning but motor still spinning. Is there a shear pin or just replace motor?

Thanks for all the help.

You can get the entire gearmotor somewhat inexpensively:

I also found this less expensive gears repair kit while looking for the switch for me:

one thing to double check...... if the landing leg on the switch side (that is easy to see) is touching the ground, and yet the motor continues to spin freely, LOOK at the other leg and see if its on the ground yet.... this type of stabilizer is automatic adjusting from side to side, and pressure wont build until BOTH legs adjust themselves and are on solid ground.. and it may take a bit before the other leg equalizes.
