Bighorn - Transport Kayak

Greetings All - I'm looking for a way to transport my 10' kayak and was thinking of "strapping" it to the ladder. The Kayak weight is 32lbs and the ladder can withstand a weight of 190lbs. So, I think I'm fine other than the leveraged weight and thrusting that it might experience. On the 2019-3760EL Bighorn there is no hitch mount nor a manufacture that makes a class-II or-class-III bolt on frame hitch that won't void my warrantee.

Your thoughts and comments are welcomed

Here is one option. Others have done what you want and hopefully will chime in with their ideas.

Thanks Everyone for your input and suggestions. I think I'll try the ladder mount and post my finding for others. Several of you said: "join the HOG". I am a Newbie member joined in 2018 when I bought my 40' Bighorn, that, BTW - has been in the shop for 3-months now.....oh well.

As soon as I get it back we're heading for Parker Arizona, so I'll test out my ladder theory on that run.

I'll keep ya'all posted

I remembered reading threads from years past on the forum about Kayaks (I even started one), but didn't see much in the "Similar Threads" handy listing at the bottom of your thread page. I did a forum search on the term "Kayak" (I find that "Advanced Search" does a much better job than regular "Search") and got a lot of hits. I copied a few of the thread URL's, but there are many more results of this forum search you can do yourself.

I understand the kayak is somewhat light, but that ladder is held onto the fiberglass rear cap with like #8 bolts thru plastic hardware. Its the bouncing that will damage the ladder as it is going down the road. I am not sure I would trust it long term.

There are numerous threads on here about the ladders failing on their own.
