    Electric/Hydraulic Disc Brake System failure

Re: Hydrolic Brake failure Testing Electric/Hydraulic brakes. Pull the breakaway switch, pump should come on and bog down as it builds pressure. The pump is working. With TV hooked up. squeeze the controller manual override, should come on and bog down as it builds pressure. Some TV IBC's...

ATF: Big Country - Axle serial #

That is good news! Keeps the price down. Next is to figure out what size stud you have. Take a lug nut off, some are marked. If not take it to Home Depot and thread on a 9/16" or 1/2" rod. Auto Parts should be able to help. That should be all you need to get the fitment correct.

ATF: Big Country - Axle serial #

Bob, The only thing needed to make sure you have a proper fitment on disc brakes is the stud size, 7k & 8k axles are all 8 hole but have 1/2", 9/16" & 5/8" studs. The only other thing is do you have a never lube axle?(sealed bearing) If you have a grease zerk on the end of your axle it is an...

    Bighorn Axle 8K upgrade benefits?

I agree with those who upgraded to IS. I just bought a new 5'er with 7k axles with G tires. The 1st sign of trouble I will upgrade to the IS and 17.5 H tires. BTW, I think the Landmark 365 comes standard with disc brakes. All the parts on the 7k disc brakes are the same as 8k, you only need to...

Anybody ever converted to disc brakes as a DIY?

Fish tape from the pin box back towards the battery compartment will get it done. There are only very few that need to loosen the trim around the front cap to allow the top panel to get a fish tape through.

Anybody ever converted to disc brakes as a DIY?

The challenge is not finding parts. The challenge is finding ALL the parts then finding someone you have confidence in that can talk you through a problem when it rises. The conversion itself is not difficult if you have all the parts to complete the job. But, it does take some time. If a shop...

Anybody ever converted to disc brakes as a DIY?

When you talk to Mor/Ryde, give them the serial# on the actuator. There have been at least 2 recalls on the Carlisle that I know of. They will be able to tell you if it is on the recall list.

Anybody ever converted to disc brakes as a DIY?

Yes, I represent Titan at RV Shows & rallies doing seminars and work with dealers on install training. The standard tandem axle tubing kit consists of flex lines (18") to the caliper also a 12" flex line connecting to the actuator. Titan uses 3/16 bendable metal tubing. 1/4" is not necessary on...

Anybody ever converted to disc brakes as a DIY?

The integrated Hub/Rotor comes in 4 finishes. The only thing is Dacromet. 1. Automotive, has no coating and will rust 2. Ecoat, which will provide minimal rust deterent. 3. Dacromet, which will resist rust in salt water applications 4. Stainless Steel, only used in salt water applications...

Any consideration of lighter interior options for 2016 landmarks

Well, that didn't go anywhere. I am wishing for a landmark with the Redwood Urban Clay cabinetry.

Yet another wheel bearing packing question

On all 7k & 8k, Titan and Kodiak disc brake conversion kits you can convert to oil bath. Both use a double lip seal. There is no bearing difference and both use a screw on oil bath cap.

Brakes - Careful, You Might Get What You Asked For

So to be clear - wired directly to the house battery means that the pump is wired directly, not the controls and the pump is not spinning at a residual flow all the time. True But, when the controls activates the pump, the pump is being powered directly from the house battery, correct? No the...

Brakes - Careful, You Might Get What You Asked For

3 Sec. to reach full pressure on a Carlisle actuator is exactly what testing shows. But you should only "feel" the 1 sec. lag to get to activation of 250 psi. I have never used a Carlisle actuator and was not aware you could actually feel that much of a lag. Sounds like normal operation for the...

Brakes - Careful, You Might Get What You Asked For

Bill, I don't care what brand of pump you have, there should not be a 3-4 sec delay. Your controller is not talking nice to you pump. Parked, with the trailer hooked up. While standing by the pump, have someone step on the brakes. You should hear the pump start within 1 sec. You can private...

The Brakerite EHB is what is used on 95% of RV Trailer applications where there are 5 wires that are wired into the 7 way. The Brakerite II is exactly the same pump just with plug n play specifically designed for OEM Boat Trailer mfg. The pump does not run at all in standby mode. Having the...

TandT, Yes, Titan has an extra wire that goes directly to the house battery so it is always on. I will be at the Utah RV Show in Feb. Hope to see you there.

Brakes - Careful, You Might Get What You Asked For

Disc brake lag is real. There are 3 major mfg. of electric/hydraulic pumps, Carlisle, Dexter & Titan. Carlisle & Dexter use a 3 piston pump, pumping prox. 38 cu. in per min. Titan uses a 5 piston pump, pumping 72 cu in per min resulting in a 66% faster response time. Both Carlisle & Dexter will...
