    Question for residential fridge owners

The rig is out of warranty. I haven't gotten so much as a too bad so sad from Heartland. I had to eat the deductible from the rv policy as well as the cost of fabricating a secure mounting for the fridge. Close to $1,000 out of pocket.

    Question for residential fridge owners

Nope the slide was not replaced, just the floor. Unfortunately there was a lot of cabinetry and the stove as well as fridge mounted on the floor. In order to replace the floor everything touching it has to be removed. Just got the rig back after almost 3 weeks. It would not have been necessary...

    Expensive option

Travel tiger and Carl, yup I have progressive and they do have up to $750 for out of house stay. My mistake for not making it clear in the original post and second one. sorry. Fortunately we have a friend who has allowed us to stay at their place for the time as the insured amount would likely...

    Expensive option

As stated in Paragraph 2, there is coverage for the repairs to the floor, but only from my RV policy, not the service contract.

    Expensive option

We bought our 2014 Big Horn in early 2014 and were excited to have a residential fridge rather than an RV fridge. I was looking forward to not having to defrost every 3 to 4 weeks and having more food storage. The icemaker / water spigot was an added bonus. Then the troubles started. Heartland...

    Question for residential fridge owners

Follow up on the original post. Just got the repair estimate. The repair will take about 10 days to 2 weeks and will require removal of the slide. If no further damage is found then it will cost about $7800.00 to replace the slide floor.

FOUND: Ice maker water shut-off (Road Warrior)

Be aware that a frequent source of water leaks into your rig are from icemaker lines. I have a very expensive repair starting next week because of one. I won't be having the water line replaced and will do without the icemaker in the future.

    Slide wood floor separating

I have already had the issue examined. A piece of metal under the slide might get me to the shop but that's about it. The entire slide floor is delaminating under the fridge and towards the other end of the slide. I am just hoping that the floor on the main part of the trailer is still sound. We...

How many miles on your tow vehicle

My truck has about 600,000 miles on it now. Bought it used in 04 with 495,000 miles on it. I figure I'll continue using it until it's time to hang up the keys.

ATF: Bighorn - ice maker water line

Thanks for the icemaker info. Right now that is pretty insignificant. I just found that the floor under the fridge is delaminating on the underside and self destructing due to slide operation. I guess I didn't find the water leak soon enough to avoid losing the floor. Now instead of just finding...

    Slide wood floor separating

I just found out I will need to replace the floor on the slide on our rig on the fridge side. Leak from the icemaker is the cause. I had hoped I caught it early enough to avoid damage. When I went to dump tanks I saw pieces of wood sticking out of the slide where it meets the wall of the...

    Another wet underbelly question

Don't let water leaks go for any length of time. I just found out that the leaking icemaker line on the fridge has taken out the entire floor of the slideout. The thing is delaminating on the bottom and self destructing from operating the slide.

    Bighorn - waste valves

Re: ATF: Bighorn - waste valves I have been using one of those last ditch valves. The reason I want the proper equipment functioning is because I dislike having to go through the dump procedure every two or three days because the main grey tank fills up from showers and laundry. You may like...

    Hydraulic issue... pump cutting out?

Anyone that has the 2 50 amp breakers (or two 40 amp) set up could you post a picture of what the set up looks like? I am contemplating doing the dual breaker option if it will fit the bus bar but don't know how thew wiring would be done.

    Quiet Cool AC

I am assuming that you mean it will be standard on the 2016 models then. We have a 2014 and neither AC is very quiet. We have to turn the TV way up in the summertime. Fortunately we are used to it in the bedroom so we can sleep past start up.

    Dishwasher in 3570 RS

We have a 2014 3875 and had a dishwasher installed. It required cabinet modification on the side of the island where the trash can was stored. An extension of the island cabinet was fabricated and even though it sticks out, is not really noticable. We had the fisher drawer model dishwasher...

ATF: Bighorn - ice maker water line

After 18 months ours decided to flood the floor under the cabinet. I have shut off the water line. The center island blocks the fridge, fortunately, since the factory never anchored the fridge in the first place. (residential fridge on ROLLERS). I assume the repeated movement of the fridge in...

    Bighorn - waste valves

Being that I am looking at replacing my main grey tank valve for the second time in as many years and now the main black tank valve, I am wondering if there is an electric waste valve that will fit the Big Horn. According to my dealer the factory installed a somewhat proprietary ball type valve...

    Hydraulic issue... pump cutting out?

I found some at O'riely auto parts store at $5.99. Not the exact thing as the mounting tabs are set 90 degrees from what is installed but otherwise the same 50 amp breaker. This location online has them at a lower price, under $3 each. http://www.delcity.net/store/Auto-Re...!-12V/p_198669...

    Hydraulic issue... pump cutting out?

I'm looking for a replacement breaker. At the least I need a 50 amp direct replacement. I would prefer to get the 80 amp but I'm having trouble locating either on online. Can anyone who has purchased one from an auto parts store advise which chain store you used? If I have to get the same thing...

Tripping 12v 50amp auto reset circuit breaker

Got the same issue. Trying to find a new breaker at this time. Can anyone who got one at an auto parts store advise which store chain you got it from. So far my online searches of the parts data base including some RV locations has come up negative. - - - Updated - - -

Ice Maker Poll - give Heartland your feedback

We have one and used to use it until the fragile line used at the factory leaked. We would like to use it again but also would like the factory to understand the fragility of the line and use a braided line instead on the installs, saving much headaches for owners.

    Hydraulic lines

I would be very leery about hydraulic lines with bulges. FWIW I had a SOB rig and had a line go bad outside of warranty. Removing it was not a big deal. Make sure the rig is propped up before hand and have a couple caps to prevent the fittings from dripping and getting air into the system. Take...

How to carry your rifles in your RV

I bought a light weight safe from the PX that fits in the closet. I placed it horizontally on the floor and used a few screws to keep it from shifting. Is it proof from determined thieves? Nope but it is far better than under the bed, in a cabinet, behind furniture etc etc.

Firearms traveling to Alaska via Canada

Retired LEO and retired Army Officer. I've been to Canada and had a rather enjoyable time there exploring Victoria Island, once I got past Canadian Customs. I did not transport any firearms there even though I was at that time still serving as a LEO in 1985. I knew I was going to go to Canada...

    Satellite connections???

FWIW in my 2014 Big Horn there was a cable connector that was in the basement area that came undone. I had it checked out under warranty after a day doing cable checking and the tech found the cable had come undone. One issue I have with the "factory cable setup is this. There is only 1 sat...

    Hydraulic issue... pump cutting out?

I have looked at my wiring situation and saw that the breaker for the hydraulics was also connected to the main power bus bar (copper strip). Since the hydraulic system is a direct wire (power thoughput) is it necessary to keep the new 80 watt breaker connected to that same buss or just be used...

Black Water Tank Valve Sealing (Landmark)

Rather than doing the PM bit, why not post the answer here? This isn't an unusual issue and since Heartland does not use the old standard straight gate valve, it's pricey to replace them. I use the twist on last gasp valve and it works great. Only problem is I have to dump every couple of days...

    Question for residential fridge owners

I wouldn't have thought that would be the case but you were spot on. We have a center island and the fridge is in the slide. I would never have thought they would route a water line like that. Thank you very much. I still have to trace the leak but at least I stopped the water supply to it.

    Question for residential fridge owners

Resurrecting this thread with new developments. The wedges mad didn't work for long at all. The front shelf has separated completely from the slide. We have it set aside out of the way so we can travel. Today I saw that we have a water leak and it has to be coming from the supply line to the...

    Question for residential fridge owners

That's the position it has taken with the collapse of the forward edge of the slide. It is as far back as I can move it into the slot but the front "feet" of the fridge rest on that shelf of the slide. Since that corner dropped down, it tends to have the fridge tilt just a hair forward. Being...

    Question for residential fridge owners

Using shims and or wedges isn't going to work at this time. Cookie if you had looked at the pics I posted you would have seen that the flooring under the fridge when one might mount a wedge or clip to stop forward shifting has started to separate from the slide structure. Given that the front...

    Question for residential fridge owners

These are shots I just took today after we checked into a RV park and got set up. The damage is spreading and fast. We tried using some non skid material to stop the fridge from walking but with the slide footer splitting and dropping down it doesn't help. The entire front of the fridge rests...

    Question for residential fridge owners

Had a new situation develop in our rig. The fridge was installed without any means of securing it in place. As a result every time we change locations it tends to try to "walk" out of it's spot. So far the center island has stopped it from going too far with a noodle used as a buffer. Has anyone...

    Spare tire / wheel question

Got a 2014 Bighorn 3875 FB. This is really about the rim rather than the tire. I got my rig with Goodyear G614's installed so tires were fine. What I found out when I had the wheels balanced was that the spare tire rim is so badly warped it cannot be balanced. It's never been off of the...
