I was supposed to hit the road this morning and head south to Las Cruces, NM or El Paso, TX...
But there is a massive wind storm hitting right now (wind gusts up to 70 mph), so I decided to hunker down and ride out the storm here (better go dig out my old REO Speedwagon cassettes :p ).
I've recently discovered that my outside shower must have frozen up and has been leaking under the coroplast (not sure how long).
I am going to maybe tear into this issue today, but most likely tomorrow as it is supposed to be much warmer outside.
Since I discovered this leak I've unhooked...
Am now full time and will loose my street address this Tuesday when the closing on the house happens.
I plan on leaving the state (Colorado) for awhile, and maybe for good!
Haven't quite decided that yet.
So, what should I do to deal with my mail?
I was running the microwave and it made the GFI pop and now don't have power to a lot of places in the RV, and the fridge is now running on propane.
I checked the fuses . . . all seem to be OK.
Just wanted to let all of my fellow Mountain Region HOC members know that a major change has happened in our lives . . .
Cathy and I have decided to go our own separate ways, and while she begins a new life on the east coast, I will remain in the Heartland family with my Heartland Prowler as a...
Anyone out there using the Verizon Hotspot for internet access, how good is it.
I'm used to having Comcast Xfiniti now, but will be moving on soon and looking at Verizon as a solution.
I was at the Verizon store tonight and got pricing, but would like some feedback about it.
Also wondering if...
I will soon be in need of a heated water hose and have been checking them out at Camping World online . . .
I've ruled out the 12-footer as I don't think it would long enough in many campsites, the 50-footer would be way too long in almost all sites, and the 25-footer would most likely be the...
I was just trying to renew our membership and it now says the price is '$0'.
I hadn't heard this . . . when did that happen
Now, when I got to the end of the renewal page it still wanted my credit card info so I haven't completed the process yet.
Just started a Prowler Facebook page today as many other of the Heartland brands have them, so I thought it was high time we had one too!
Come check it out and post some photos here and there!
Just got this newsletter in my email:
Heartland Recreational Vehicles, LLC (Heartland) is recalling certain 2018 Sundance XLT TT recreational trailers, models ID221RB, ID241BH, ID273RL, ID281DB, ID283RB and ID291QB. The axles on these vehicles were installed backwards, possibly reducing the...
Interestingly . . . I just discovered this crack in the fiberglass on one of our slideouts the other day:
What is strange is that I was looking at photos from our last trip two weeks ago and the crack is not there (at least I couldn't see it in the photos).
We have had Verizon for over 15 years and so far we've been happy with their coverage, most especially here in the Colorado Rockies, where very few of the other cell carriers have had service in the past.
However, we are now at the point where it is time to get new phones, but Verizon now is so...
I was looking through some digital photos from the early days of digital and I ran across a shot taken in 2006 of our first 'Tent On Wheels'.
We owned this 1978 Coachman Cadet 24 for 14 years and dragged it around Colorado and New Mexico a bunch!
We have friends that lived in the mountains in...
In my quest to get better gas mileage when towing I dumped the 2500HD and switched to this:
Can't wait to try it over Wolf Creek Pass! :o
Plus, the color matches the Prowler better and it's 4-wheel drive, too!
After discovering a separating tread on one of our tires on the way back from the Las Vegas National HOC Rally last October, I've been wondering if this could be an issue.
Typically when we roll into an RV park or campground and I install the X-Chocks, after the tires cool off some I have to...
Last Friday (12/23/2016) when I went outside to go to work I discovered that someone had tried to steal my Reese 16K Pro Slider out of the back of my truck.
I found a couple of the hitch pins that hold the hitch to the rails pulled, plus all four of the plastic end caps on each end of the...
On a flight getting ready to depart for Detroit, Jack was sitting on the plane when a guy took the seat beside him. The guy was an emotional wreck, pale, hands shaking, moaning in fear. "What's the matter?" Jack asked.
"I've been transferred to Detroit, there's crazy people there. They've got...
Just thought I'd post a couple of shots of our Prowler at the HOC National Rally in Las Vegas.
We had the only Prowler in attendance.
We had a blast . . . would like to see more Prowlers at the HOC Rallies!
Four years ago today (9/11/2012) we became Heartland owners!
That was the day we signed papers and picked up our previous 2013 Heartland Trail Runner 22RK (RK means Rear Kitchen) in Longmont, Colorado.
Here is a shot of it just five minutes after we left the dealership:
We traded it in a...
Have had this conversation going in another topic, but thought I'd start this in it's own thread.
Two weeks ago while camping the furnace was running and the LP tank ran out of gas.
I shut the furnace off as it was warm in the trailer and went outside and flipped the switch on the regulator to...
I am going to be sanitizing the fresh water tank on our Prowler tomorrow, and I believe that I have the amount of bleach at 1/4 cup per 15 gallons of water.
However, I think I asked this question before but I can't find the topic thread . . .
Is it OK to run this bleach/water mix into the hot...
It has been three days now since I've received an email notification to any topic threads I've posted to . . . and I've had over 100 (been tracking them in other ways)!
Anyone else having this issue . . . ?
Anyone know what is going on?
By the by . . . have already checked my settings and...
Heartland Sightings - Denver, CO on Saturday, May 21, 2016 . . .
Spotted a Landmark near downtown Denver headed north on I-25 around 8:30 a.m. . . .
And saw a Gateway near downtown Denver around 5:45 p.m. going south on I-25 . . .
I think both were being towed by brown trucks.
We'll be down at the Royal Gorge for the July 4th. 2016 Holiday Weekend . . .
If anyone else is going to be in the area or are looking for a place to camp or at least meet up with your Heartland RV . . . let us know!
I'll buy extra beer (or whiskey if need be) . . . will meet up with anyone...
ATF: Prowler - Placement of awning . . . design flaw?
On our 2015 Prowler P292, the entrance door has a gas strut to hold the door open.
However, this is NOT a good feature as every single time the wind blows . . . it not only rips the screws out of the side wall of the trailer . . . but the...
How many of us Prowler owners are members of the Heartland Owner's Club (HOC)?
I am, and we've so far been to three HOC gatherings since we bought our Prowler (and four other HOC events with our previous Heartland Trail Runner), and so far we have been the only Prowler at these campouts!
Reading around the chats has got me to wondering why 5th-wheel trailers are called '5th-wheels'?
Wouldn't the 5th-wheel be the spare tire?
Maybe they should be called 'pick-up truck bed hoggers' instead . . . ?
Anyone know where or why the term '5th-wheel' came to be?
Just a random though...
Hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving Day!
I work in the retail industry so I will be working on Black Friday . . . but hope everyone else here enjoys their time off!
And have a happy holidays as well!
We start our 2016 camping season at the Arizona HOC Rodeo Rally in Tucson in February...
I'm debating if I want to take my 5th-wheel hitch out of the back of the truck for the winter or maybe try to find a cover to put over it to keep the snow off of it.
I have a tarp big enough, but they always flap in the wind and make a lot of noise.
As would a large garbage bag . . .
On our last campout of the season last week it got pretty cool at night up in the mountains (low 30's).
I busted out our small portable electric heater that worked well in our last two trailers . . . but not so well in our much larger 5th-wheel!
Which electric heaters have you all been using...
I haven't had problems loading images, but I haven't gotten any email notifications from subscribed posts all day, despite having found several new posts to subscribed topic threads in the 'Whats New' link.
Earlier in the day I kept getting the 'Bad link page won't load' message when trying to...
Re: NEVER Buying Another Heartland
Admin note: Excerpted from reply to an unrelated thread.
The day we picked up our trailer, I said that I thought the pigtail wire was way too long and I was afraid that it would catch on something . . . and they said "Nah . . . better to have it too long than...
Trying to find the water pump in our 2015 Prowler P292 5h-wheel.
It sounds like it might be under the credenza behind the panel with vents in it (sounds like the furnace is under there as well), but not sure
