This is the unit I purchased for my sauna project. (low flow and pressure propane operated with battery ignition)
It will provide plenty of hot water for a sink and shower.
I chose to go with an offgrid style build having almost everything on 12V for easier operation while boon docking.
Has anyone here ever tried to bypass their stock tank and use a tankless on demand unit?
I have had issues with our stock 120/gas heater and am considering a change.
I have ordered a portable unit to use for my portable sauna project and thought this might work well for the camper also.
Our previous trailer a 2012 trail runner had the ribbon type antenna
It was tied up in a ball behind the head unit which I found when I pulled it out
Stretching out this antenna was the ticket to improving reception to some degree
Perhaps pulling out the head unit will allow you to see what...
We had a 2012 trail runner that had a serious leak at one or more of the marker lights across the front of the trailer when we first took possession.
The manager of our dealership had the nerve to accuse me of leaving the storage doors open all week while the trailer was parked on public land un...
Has anyone ever found a replacement fan that does not resemble a jet engine when you turn it on?
I have been looking to change out that fan in the last three trailers I have owned for years now.
In our last trailer I had to rebuild the hot water tank bypass when one of the plastic valves failed de-winterizing.
I used some shark bite tee fittings, shut off valves and inline fittings. They were easy to work with and leak free up until we traded it in.
The fittings were cheaper than a pex...
Some shark bite plumbing fittings to go with the pipe
I had to use them to re build a hot water bypass one spring.....turned one valve and it broke in my fingers due to the cheap plastic fittings they used lol
Unfortunately we are riding out a polar vortex in NWO Canada patiently waiting for spring lol
Picture this burried in snow with the current temperature of -31C feels like -48C with the wind lol
Spray foam may not work well.
I stuff the openings with steel wool....regular steel wool is messy and can be messy with rust and such.
I bought some stainless steel scrubbers for dish washing and unraveled them to use.
Great for mice.....squirrels just pull it out and make a nest with it lol...
We have a permanent site and all I do is place the autoformer on top of a piece of plywood and then place a plastic tote over top of it to protect it from the elements. I also try to leave an air gap to allow any heat generated by the autoformer to escape
Using calculations based on a 40 000 btu furnace you will get around 30 hours run time from two 30 lb tanks of propane.
How fast you use the 30 hrs available will vary on all the external factors such as wind, ambient temperature, heat loss due to insulation levels in your unit etc.
As for battery...
Assuming your furnace is 40 000btu you can expect aprox 32 hours of run time off of two 30 lb bottles (less time if running other propane appliances)
Now how fast you run the clock out will be determined by the outdoor temperature ,wind, heat loss and temperature the trailer is set to etc.
This...
I have run a champion generator 4000W peak 3000W continuous for years.
It is not an inverter generator so it produces the "dirty power" and I have had no issues with it with three different trailers now.
I don't doubt that the electronics do not like the power but I have had no failures there...
So I have come to hate filling propane bottles for heat in the spring and fall. Rather expensive to do seasonally
I do not care to run generators to power electric heaters for the cost of fuel and the wear and tear on said generator. Our site closes from the end of September until May so the...
As a rule I will always have spare propane with us when we go out......usually four 30s ......two in use and two ready to go
I also have a few 20s floating around in case of a real emergency lol
And yes I have shared the pain of changing bottles in the middle of the night in the rain and snow...
Can be done
Get a shopping list of shark bite fittings and amount of pex you will need and plumb away lol
I changed the factory plastic shut off valves out in my old trailer for the nice solid shark bite ball valves
We are into the season of requiring heat in the trailer now lol.
I did a little research to try and figure out how long two 30lb cylinders of propane will last us and found this information.
4.24 lbs of propane equals one gallon
one gallon equals 92000 BTU
So here goes the calculation
30 lb...
Well the factory authorized and sent a replacement microwave.
We pick it up on friday and its a breeze to install since the old one came out so easily lol
Even though we don't own a heartland unit anymore this is still my go to site for any information
Since new our high point microwave has been used sparingly.....like maybe a dozen times since spring of 2017 to heat some water or soup.
It just quit working and is being replaced under waranty
How many people have had this brand microwave and had it fail?
I run a bell expressview satelite reciever in our camper
To have the sound come through the jenson stereo all i did was to put a splitter in line with the RCA cables going to the TV
I split off the rca audio signal (I believe my stereo came with the RCA to headphone adapter)
This allowed me to...
Amazon
I had great success with replacement bulbs
Just do your research for type lumens and colour ......3000K is incandecent yellowish colour 5000K is crisp white above gets blueish
Make sure you put pen to paper.
As any issues or concerns arise on the maiden voyage be sure to document them.
It is easy to forget something as the days go by.
Even make a "wish I had this " list as you go for things you did not anticipate.
This is how i mounted a TV in our previous trailer
found a board with nice grain
stained and varnished to look almost factory
attached it to the bedroom wall with six screws
then mounted the TV to it
sorry its sideways......cant figure out how to rotate lol
Has anyone ever done or seen a mod to the fixed ladder that extends it above the roof to make it easier to get up and down?
I have had some knee issues lately and climbing onto the roof is rather difficult when it is only 7-8 inches above the roof from factory.
Standard practice is to extend a...
I installed a TV on the living area of the bedroom wall.
I found a nice piece of wood , stained it to match the existing cabinets and varnished it.
Attached it to the wall after finding the studs.
If you did not know any better you would have thought it was factory
Not knowing the exact layout of your rig makes it tougher for me to advise you but here goes.
If your water system is somewhat insulated from direct exposure to the cold , by this I mean water lines tanks and such are buried in an underbelly especially a heated underbelly you could possibly...
We have a recent development with our new trailer.
It seems a rodent has found a way into our trailer but only has access into the cupboards in the kitchen and bathroom which are beside each other and has started to make it its home bringing in foods to store in the drawers so far. mainly dried...
On sale this week for $379 at Lowes ca
We grabbed one to replace our champion 3000 watt unit
It even has a 30 amp plug in which is a nice feature
I see other bigger ones have a 50 amp plug in.
Another bonus is the hour meter to keep track of maintenance schedules rather than guestimating hours...
Has anyone here had any real life experience with FIRMAN generators?
A fellow camper purchased one from Lowes.ca a couple weeks ago and we helped her un-package and set it up to run in a short amount of time.
I was pleased with the clear instruction and ease of set up.
The part that totally blew...
I had a similar incident in our previous heartland unit.
Found the bowl almost overflowing at the last minute by fluke lol.
I just made it a rule to lift the pedal with your toes when you flushed and never had an issue after.
As for the cause I never figured it out for sure?
I always thought it...
My unit has a Jensen entertainment unit DVD radio USB AUX etc.
It has three zones also for speakers and I had an issue with no sound till I found the fade/balance settings.
What unit do you have?
I'll bet there is a fade adjustment on yours also that can be set to your liking
