    Black Water Tank Problem!

After the straps broke the tank fell a few inches, right now there is not much holding it in place. My guess off hand is that after the straps broke; then the air vent broke loose. The tank is not broken with jagged edges, it just looked that way. I am thinking if I can remove the tank, I...

Good idea, I plan on doing that, I just saw the problem today but am certain they did not even look at the problem let alone fix it. I still have the paper work from their service.

    Black Water Tank Problem!

I was having a problem with a leak when back flushing the black water tank in 2013 and took it to La Mesa RV in Davis where I purchased it. I took it in on 9/18/2013 and they had it for a few months. I was also in the process of moving and when picking it up I checked the other repairs but not...

Windows that don't leak cold air...

Interesting point TravelTiger. Water conducts heat 25 times faster than air so I would imagine that humid air would feel worse than a drier air.

Need experiences - DRW vs SRW, Long vs Short bed

A couple things I don't like about DRW but then I also tow a trailer with GVWR under 15K. I don't like their performance in the snow and getting mud out of the inner rim can be a pain at times leaving the wheels out of balance. Now this is not considering the advantage mentioned above. On the...

How many hours of drive time until you take a rest stop?

Every 3 to 4 hours or sooner if needed. I don't mind driving all night just stopping for fuel but it depends on how far we have to travel and where we're headed.

F350 bed height and Gateway 3200

The only thing I am disappointed with so far are the locations of the heat registers. The movable island will break them if not careful. I have replaced them with metal ones that look nicer from Home Depot. We are extremely pleased with the GW 3200. For our needs, I don't think we have...

    Need some hitch opinions

I have the 25K Reese Elite, it is very good but the B and W Companion is well liked by many and it is a lot less money, just never had one to make the recommendation. Both will fit the Ford factory mounted rail system.

F350 bed height and Gateway 3200

I have my Reese Elite hitch set to the lowest position to keep the FW more level. The bed rails are not going to be an issue, they are standard height. What you want to see ideally, is a level FW when connected the hitch. I plan to install Independent Suspension on the 3200, that will raise...

F350 bed height and Gateway 3200

I tow the GW 3200 with a 2013 F350 SRW SB. The FW sits a little high in the front but not bad and no problems. I tried to upload a picture but a no go.

    Scared and happy

+1 with what Bill Knight said. If you stop and take a look for yourself before you get too close to things, whether there is a good spotter or not, it simplifies the job a tremendous amount. On my first outing with a FW, two trees teamed up on me and a branch caught the roofing. A year...

    new TST system

I have the same system with no repeater and it works great. I've even received all the tire sensors when parked about 200 feet away from the FW. A potential problem with the flow through sensors: If the sensor for some reason breaks off, one of mine did and don't know why. The part that...

rear ladder bent and broke on 2013 2950RK

I tightened the 4 standoffs and they hold my 240 lbs well enough for me to fell confident. So far the end caps are staying tight. I am going to look for a way to bond the screws in the standoffs to the FW somehow, that may be the trick for the long run.

    Tire Pressure

I don't know the best answer but it was about 75 when I aired mine up a few months ago and are still holding the pressure. It is now colder and I have not corrected them, but the pressure comes up quicker than temperature of the tire once I start pulling it; so I am leaving mine alone unless I...

What 2014 diesel truck and SRW or DRW ?

I tow with a 2013 F350 SRW but trailer is only 14K GVWR. Going up the grapevine at 60 MPH in cruise control was no problem with room to spare. While the Ford does no use an exhaust brake, they control the downhill speeds well. Going down the grapevine was easily negotiated as well with very...

    Minimizing Travel Anxiety in Dogs?

Our three dogs love camping and sleep most of the way in the truck. We make the back seat of the truck into a large bed for them and take them for walks on longer trips. You just have to be careful if you mention the word camping too soon while at home. If we start loading clothes and food...

    Water in underbelly

Thanks for the input, good ideas. It was our pleasure meeting you and Teri. I did find a slow leak on the black water flush behind the UDC where the water line screws onto the hose connector. This is after hand tightening the fitting about a turn. I think replacing that fitting with brass is...

    Water in underbelly

I have not encountered any water on the road or otherwise. I opened it up behind the UDC, found the hoses for the fresh water and black water flush a little loose but not enough to leak. Hooked up fresh water and ran faucets inside and not seeing any leaks. Next will hook up black water flush...

    Water in underbelly

Good ideas. I punched a couple of small holes in the coroplast at the low points to let water out, not a lot came out, maybe a quart. If I can find the source of the leak without having to pull it all down, I'll be a happy camper. I will definitely take a look at the back of the UDC.

    Water in underbelly

What is the best way to pull the coroplast down. I found it sagging today and there is water in there. I can remove the screws but there is also propane pipes going down the offdoor side that I'd rather not have to pull off or should I just go for it? Any other way of pulling it down would...

EVENT: Heartland Regional Rally: CA, Temecula - 10/10/2013 to 10/14/2013

John and Lori did another great job! Their efforts and those who volunteer to assist them always put on a great event. What truly makes events fun; though, are the people attending. The West has some great Heartland owners. Can't wait to get back to Goshen in 2015 to meet some great...

    Bike Rack at rear

I have a friend that currently has a motor home with the same ladder as every other trailer I've seen. It even uses the same plastic caps on each step. He uses a ladder bike rack for 2 bikes and has done so through 2 5th wheels and now his motor home over the last dozen years or so with no...

    Bike Rack at rear

Right now the Gateway 3200 has the spare tire mounted to the rear bumper. I don't like it there and want to mount a bike rack in the rear. It looks like the BAL hide-a-spare is inexpensive and easy to use. That will take care of removing the spare. Now my next question is about leverage...

    JT Strongarms

From my non-experience knowledged, that should keep the front stable but you will have side to side movement in the rear of the coach. The scissor jacks should help with any possible frame flex issues up and down but very little for side to side from my understanding. in about 4 hours, I will...

    JT Strongarms

How many of the braces do you have on your BH? From what I can see on the internet, it looks like having 5 of the JT Armstrong braces on is the best way to go but I may be wrong on that, maybe someone the uses them can chime in.

Tri-Pod under pin (yes / no)

I have a tripod stabilizer for the king pin, does not do much for the Gateway but helped the Prowler a lot. I will bring it with me and let you try it if you want to see what it does but I think the Steadyfast is going to be very nice, can't wait to try it.

Tri-Pod under pin (yes / no)

Not yet but we have a Gateway and the stabilizer bars will be on the front landing jacks, should be easy to spot. We'll be there on Thursday the 10th. If you see us, just knock, be happy to let you check out how effective they are.

Tri-Pod under pin (yes / no)

Steadyfast stabilizer is another option. Only uses 3 arms, they are longer and you tighten them at the top outside of the triangle. I have purchased them but not had a chance to install them but will before Temecula HRR on Oct. 12. Steadyfast claims it eliminates the need for x-chocks and the...

    2012 F350 Exhaust Brake

Portal you are correct about that, but it still works well if you keep the speed under control before starting the decent at least with a 14K Gateway; although, it will get the speed under control if going too fast it requires some brake initially. It is just easier to do that on the level or...

    2012 F350 Exhaust Brake

Well stated, tt works well for me using in this way. The only time I use the truck brakes on a downhill is to slow for traffic and slow twisty turns and it usually only requires light brakes for a few seconds at best.
