Trading '14 Cyclone 4100 HD for '16 LM Charleston

It sounds like a ventilation issue. Same can happen in a stick/brick home if attic isn't ventilated properly. I wonder if it's possible to ventilate the roof/attic area? I think I've heard that Montana brand ventilates their roof? Is it possible due to different construction ?

    Model differences

Thought I'd give you all an update. After several days of weighing our "stuff", even if we add a washer dryer, we have a buffer of @800-1000 lbs!! I was sure we would have been close if not over our limit, but we are not. We have not accounted for food, water etc but those are adjustable...

    Diesel Aux and main tanks

Traveling across Montana last year in our Honda, I was wondering what I would do pulling a fiver. There weren't any stations forever. And as mentioned earlier, it would be great to skip the "high dollar" stations altogether. I'm currently think a 40-50 gallon combo storage/tank unit may be in...

    Model differences

Spent the day looking at Bighorn and Landmark. Wife ruled out the front bath Bighorn almost immediately. Then we saw the new 3760el. Very nice and open layout and accessibility to almost everything when closed. We both really liked it and decided it should be on our short list - until - I...

    Pulling a heavy fiver

I really appreciate all the great responses and advice, more than I can say!! You're all terrific and I hope to meet as many of you as I can - down the road. Small change of topic, can you recommend a good dealer in the southeast region that carries Bighorn / Landmark? I would really prefer...

Curious how many have aux fuel tanks? Are they worth it? does the aux tank affect how the truck handles? I can think of a couple highways where extra fuel is almost a requirement.

    Model differences

Jim / anyone is there an existing discussion on the differences between Bighorn and Landmark? If so can you insert a link? Or if someone has already created a spreadsheet with differences, can you post or send by pm? Not sure if this helps but we are between the front bath Bighorn and the...

The DW really likes the Silverado so this is great news (we have yet to actually drive the ford). Mind sharing your fuel mileage for the trip?

    Pulling a heavy fiver

Curious as to your hitch weight when loaded to 17,500#. Looking in depth at the big 3: Chevy payload is 5200, Ram is 5,780 and Ford is 6,460!! Maybe that's why I see so many fords in the signature??

    Pulling a heavy fiver

Really appreciate the great replies! We have no idea of scrimping on the tow vehicle. One ton diesel dually is our target. I see a lot of Ram and Ford in the signatures and not so many Chevy. Want to hear from all about their experiences, especially the later models as we will be purchasing...

    Pulling a heavy fiver

Hey guys Wasn't sure where to post this so please move if nneeded. We are getting very close to a decision and is coming down to either the Bighorn 3875 front bath or possibly the Landmark Ashland / Keywest. As we will be full timing, whatever it is will end up near its CCC limit. :rolleyes...

    Bighorn Dometic 320

It would have to be a pocket door (inside the wall), but might be limited by the shower plumbing. The bedroom slide is really close to the bedroom side of that wall, eliminating the possibility of using and external sliding door on the bedroom side (like they have on the other side of the...

    Bighorn Dometic 320

Thanks for the detailed response (greatly appreciated). A couple of thoughts crossed my mind. First, are there any issues w installing the dometic 320 in the 1/2 bath? Maybe we could get by w single change. Second, the wall behind the toilet in front bath might be an ideal location...

    Bighorn Dometic 320

Need some help/advice from bighorn owners or factory rep. Has anyone replaced their commode w the new Dometic 320 elongated bowl model? Specifically the 3875 front bath model? If so, did you run into any issues? Hole, frame, wall location/clearance. We we really need an elongated toilet...

    Bighorn Dometic 320

Re: Is a Landmark Newport that much better than a Bighorn 3875FB Tom I've replaced several toilets in the home, only need sufficient clearance regarding hole location and wall. The frame location doesn't make sense to me but have to guess its a combination of hole location, frame and wall...

    Full vinyl flooring

Thanks everyone! And especially for the links to those floor mods, Dan!! Those will be very helpful. I installed 1,500 sq ft of hardwood in our stick house (murder on these old knees - weeks recovering) but wanted an idea of what's underneath that carpet. We will get a first hand look at...

    Full vinyl flooring

Wife has her heart set on a new Bighorn. She hates carpet. What does the full vinyl option actually cover? Everything? Has anyone removed/replaced the carpeting on the steps? Interested in what the wood is underneath. We are planning to visit the factory as soon as we can, hopefully in next...

Appreciate your comments and faith in Heartland. We are not scared off either, just concerned about where we are about to invest a very large $$$. This has to be a wise decision for us and we are weighing all the options. This is isn't about us (it's actually about all who have an interest...

Exactly why we are concerned re HL product. Have seen several and like what we saw and almost dropped >$80k. We are also impressed with the level of support offered by the HL community. But we are planning to full time later this year and currently trying to decide on a fifth wheel and these...

Hi all. We are planning to full time starting in 6 months or less. After several months of research we (that would be wife :)) have decided the Ashland as being best for our long term adventure. Really, we are in agreement - did not enjoy driving a MH down the highway esp in wind and traffic...
