What did you do to your camper today?

No photos, but this past weekend I installed a new 12v converter, new battery, and cleaned the contacts on the automatic transfer switch.. All is working fine now! I'm thinking that we may have experienced a power surge or something at the last place we stayed, and it fried our converter and...

    Understanding RCA Jacks

A lot of newer TV's aren't using the Yellow/Red/White cables anymore... They are mostly going to HDMI and possibly composite/component setup.. I just learned this the other day when putting a new tv in my son's bedroom. Had to ditch the old dvd player that didn't have either of those...

    Black Tank Flush

There should be no connection from black tank flush to the fresh tank at all. Due to sanitary reasons of course. Are sure you had the hose hooked to the correct input??

Andersen 5th wheel adapter - thoughts?

Is anyone using the rail mount Andersen hitch? It seems to be cheaper, and I already have the rail adapter for my truck and haven't bought a gooseneck ball yet.

    Lippert Hydraulic Jack Issue

I would agree that it's probably the auto reset breaker tripping. Your battery may be weak and causing high amperage under load.

Level Up 6-point leveling system issues

Not sure if it's your issue, but to start the auto level function, the front of the trailer should be higher than level. That said, my auto level hasn't worked since I bought my trailer and I've only manually leveled it since I've owned it.

    OMG i am over weight.

I'm fairly sure 5th wheel weight is idealy between 15-25% range. And my findings are that toy haulers are heavier on the pin weight. My assumption is that with the toy in the back, it will offset some of the weight, but I haven't had a chance to weigh with my UTV in the back of my toy hauler...

    Waste Water Lesson#1

Yep. I kept getting some surprise water when removing my cap, so I purchased a twist on valve to eliminate that issue. Some folks also use this in order to open both gray tanks to "equalize" them when boondocking between dump stations to maximize gray capacity.

    Manually extend Care Free Awning

The manual states on the motorized versions the manual override can only be used to RETRACT the awning and not to extend it. https://manuals.heartlandowners.org/manuals/Exterior/Awnings/Carefree/Carefree%20Awning%20Freedom-WM-Owners-Manual.pdf

Furrion Backup vs Observation Camera - difference?

To answer your question the difference is the back up camera only works when you are backing up in reverse. The observation can be on all the time, even while driving on the highway to "observe" what's behind you. If/when I get a camera, it will be the observation camera, as they also help you...

    Cyclone Electric Bunk Operation

As mentioned, you just have to get the bed up above the holes, and the upper bed just sits on top of the pins once you lower the bottom bunk. The rear pins are a pain in my RW also, and I'm 6'2". Get you a good step stool or something to stand on safely on the angled dovetail part, and a...

    Hydraulics question (Embarrassed) lol

I had no idea about the valves, because I have electric slides. But I just learned some good info for if I ever get a rig with hydraulic slides! As for the fluid level, you want all the legs and slides to be retracted in before filling. As they extend, your fluid is going into the cylinders...

Toyhauler fuel transfer pump not working

have you checked for power at the switch, as well as pressing the switch and making sure it works by checking for power coming out of the other side?? I imagine you've probably pressed the switch a bunch trying to figure it out, but I know the last time I used mine, I had to push the switch...

Dodge 3500 mega cab short box pulling 4113

Unless the goose box adapter moves the nose of the camper back several inches vs the king pin, then you would have to be very careful during tight turns. I can make fairly sharp turns without sliding my hitch, but the trailer WILL make contact if not watching carefully.

    Noisy weight distribution hitch

I'm pretty sure about 99% of WD hitches make all kinds of popping and squeaking noises during turning maneuvers. My suggestion is if you are getting in late at night and would like to keep the noise down, stop at the front office and unhook the sway bars. You don't need them once you are in...

Onan 5500 in Cyclone is throwing Error Code 58 (Exhaust Gas Temperature Shutdown)

I also say it's running lean. Meaning it's not getting enough fuel to the engine. That will cause it to surge and will also cause excessive heat build up. When I got my RW it had sat for 2 years with old gas in the generator system. I cleaned it out and put fresh fuel and fuel treatment...

    How to "Manual operation"

Turn on the control panel, arrow up or down until you see "Manual Mode", press enter to put it in the manual operation. In this mode any press of the directional button pads (front, rear, left, or right) will extend the jacks in those locations. In order to RETRACT jacks, you need to first...

multiple flushes. dump, fill with clean water to almost completely full, dump, fill again almost full, dump, repeat about 3 - 4 times. If still not reading properly, fill about 2/3 with clean water, put in some cleaner (I think people recommend calgon?), take the trailer on a drive to slosh...

    Awning lights

You can get "direct replacements", but if you are handy with 12v, you can measure the width of the strip you have, and the length, then purchase a roll of the strip online and hook it up yourself. One of my original LED strips actually melted in one spot, so I purchased 2 rolls on Amazon and...

    Transfer switch location

I believe so. I don't think it would be in that box that is in the bathroom, as looking at pictures online of a Cyclone 4200, it appears that the power entry is below the water heater, which I believe might be what's in the box in your bathroom.

Dodge 3500 mega cab short box pulling 4113

I'm pulling a Road Warrior with my 3500 Mega Cab Dually. Definitely get a hitch that will push the pin back for maneuvering. I have a Curt Q20 slider, and although it will turn pretty tight without it slid back, if you aren't careful, it will make contact with the cab and could do some damage...

    Transfer switch location

Mounting E-Track to the walls in the garage

That's a great idea! I could have used that a couple months ago when I was transporting a full size gas grill inside and had it tied to the floor anchors. Well, somehow it managed to shift and fell over.. luckily it didn't damage anything, but we learned that you need to make sure that the...

    new owner

Lots of RV's will have issues. The key is to make sure you are prepared to deal with them. If you go into it thinking it's all rainbows and butterflies, then you'll be in for a rude awakening when something messes up. Just make sure you go over the whole rig with a fine tooth comb before you...

    New daily driver

Nice!!! I really like the silver. I wanted either silver or dark gray (to match the RW), but went with the red instead, just to be different.. I've already had silver jeep, gray dodge 1500, black 2500, so decided to add some color.. LOL

Anyone know what this is on a Cyclone 4200?

It is NOT a manual override for the awning. The awning override is on the end cap (door side). Remove a small plastic cover and insert same tool that's used to manually operate the electric slide motors. I keep forgetting to see if my RW has this plastic cover piece, but I think it does. I'm...

    Tongue weight fifth wheel

Your trailer actually removed 100 lbs from the front axle. Not sure that's ideal, but I'm no expert. That makes me think that your hitch may actually be positioned too far back (behind truck axle). My trailer added 40 lbs to my front axle.

3 AC wiring question with picture

Glad you got it figured out! Just remember that usually those pedestals are only set up for Max 50A service. Some people think that just adding another plug to one of the other outlets will increase the amount of energy they can draw, but what could happen is you trip a breaker at the main...

3 AC wiring question with picture

That switch is kinda deceiving. The middle position is OFF, up sends power to 1 unit, down sends power to the other unit. Power comes from 1 breaker TO the switch, and the switch only switched that power TO whichever A/C you switch it to. Mine was the same way. Both A/C's run to same...

Leaking from Lippert Level Up Foot

Are you sure it's not just dripping down there when the jack is in the retracted position? I don't think there's any fluid inside the actual shaft that could leak out at the foot. I'd clean it really good, wipe it down with a rag soaked with silicone based lubricant, then operate the jack up...

    Toyhauler ramp door light switch

Are you referring to the LED strip in the awning over the ramp/patio? Or are you referring to the Flood lights mounted up higher closer to the top? The LED strip lights on my toy hauler are near the awning and bunk switches. The flood light switch is in the main control panel with the...

    Hitch too low

I would say that it's probably OK the way it is, as long as each of those components are rated over the weight you are pulling and tongue weight. BUT, like mentioned, I believe your best option is to buy the extended drop bar for your WD hitch and eliminate the Gen-Y drop, to remove any...
