Since I plan to varathane everything I think I am just going to touch up the damaged areas (I still have some leftover paint) and then start my three coats of varathane. The only thing that worries me a bit is getting a little varathane on the walls since I don't want to spend the time masking...
It's been a while but here is the latest update. First of all, we decided to put carpet back but just in the slide. We had it installed but the edging was coming off. They took it back and looked for someone who could make a better edge. Took them a long time but it is coming today. My...
An update to our restoration. We finished everything finally but we aren't sure about the vinyl plank in the DR/LR slide. It leaves a channel at the edge that we just can't fix. Tried various things but it looks like we will go back to a carpet just in the slide.
We replaced the broken...
I did remove the switch. Turns out it is a small control board part #3851144018. It's $60 plus shipping from a few places. Not sure if I should get one. I can't tell if it is broken or if the issue is somewhere else.
I may try cleaning the switch on the board by putting some alcohol on it...
This morning we were woken by the sound of running water and found our fridge water dispenser spilling water all over the floor. pressing the switch stopped it but while cleaning up it started running again. I assume that the switch in front is the problem but I can't find anything on line...
It stayed up all night. This morning I switched on the breakers for GFCI (I need my coffee) and hot water heater. Within minutes the power went out again. I turned off the hot water heater and now it seems OK but it hasn't been that long.
This time the EMS showed a P03 error so I guess that...
Yes. Unless it is somehow reporting incorrectly then everything at the pedestal seems to be fine. I was surprised that the voltage was 128-129 though. That seems higher than I am used to seeing.
Suddenly today I started losing all my AC power. It would go down for about four minutes and then come back on its own. After a while it stays up longer. It has been up for 1½ hours this time, the longest since the problem started. However, I have turned off the breakers for most of the...
Really? I tested it and it works. In any case, here is the sequence to find them from the top level:
RVing
Restoring our Heartland Landmark
Replacing the Floor
The Final Result
So our table is now unattached to the floor and I can't find the original screws to hold it down. We had removed them a few years ago so that we could re-orient the table. With the carpet we never found a need to screw it down. With the vinyl (we went with glued down plank vinyl) I worry that...
Well, we are mostly finished the restoration. A few bumps in the road but it is looking good. We have a few more things to do in the US when we head south in November.
One problem, somehow the glass in the door over the desk came loose and fell out. Broken. Need to figure out how to replace...
Oddly enough some say not to put vinyl down in the slides themselves but I don't understand that. Nothing scrapes across the slide floor and it gets less wear than the rest.
As for sliding across the floor, I am being assured that the vinyl we are getting is strong enough to resist scratches...
Starting to look more expensive than originally guessed but still seems in budget. One problem is finding someone to do the floors. Has anyone replaced their floors with vinyl sheeting before? We are wondering if we can do it ourselves.
Working around the L shaped island is probably the...
We are sort of working from in to out but we may just have multiple things done together.
What sort of price are you looking at for a full paint job? Ours is in pretty good shape so we may just replace any damaged vinyl and then do something to clean up the oxidization.
Are you going with...
We have been getting quotes and are almost ready to start. It is turning out to be a bit more than we originally thought but I think still worth it.
For the floor we are thinking of sheet vinyl now fully glued. About the same price for the materials but half the cost for installation...
So after buying a Columbus and living in it for a few weeks while trying to sell the Landmark we have decided that we are really Landmark people and we are going to move back. Since we have the Columbus we will stay in it while we restore the Landmark. Even though it is 12 years old we think...
I suspected as much. I have a call in to a remote RV service company.
Am I correct that the people who replaced the awning messed up? Those two slots are supposed to line up, right?
In fact that's pretty much what someone in the campground here suggested and will do for me as I don't have...
I just bought a sunshade for the awning on our 2010 Landmark. I went to install it by sliding it into the accessory slot on the roller but I could not get it on. The cap has a slot on it that I assume is supposed to be lined up with the accessory slot but the people who replaced our awning a...
That's what we did. Went to Home Depot and bought a regular toilet seat. Not 100% perfect - we can't put that little back cover on - but it's close enough.
We have a Dometic 320 toilet with a slow close seat and cover. We bought it brand new in the fall of 2017.
In the summer of 2019 the seat broke at the hinge. Dometic replaced it for free under warranty.
A year later it is broken again.
I am thinking of replacing it with the regular seat...
The garage that did the work suggested mice. I pointed out that it only started after the roof repair. He suggested duct cleaning but if it is mice that won't fix the underlying problem.
I think that I will try some of those sticky floor traps to see what I catch besides Styrofoam. I thought...
OK, not snow. It's bits of Styrofoam. Ever since we got the roof replaced in October we get a little snow storm when the AC kicks in. The garage says that it is normal but I am not so sure. Here is a pic from just over a week ago:
That's not even the worst. The DW cleaned up before I got...
I finally took my fireplace out. The trim is nailed on so you have to pull that out. Then there is a screw and bracket at the top of the glass holding that in. Once that is out there are four screw on the inside of the frame holding the unit in place.
Without removing the four inside screws...
To answer my own question, it isn't a slide problem per se. The problem is that the island can move over time and it moved a bit forward. Someone is coming to move it back about an inch and then it should be fine.
Here's another slide issue. The kitchen slide in my 2010 Landmark Grand Canyon seems to have moved slightly to the rear. It appears to move in and out straight but I have to remove the knobs on the cupboard or else the slide rips the doors. I have a local tech coming out to look at it but I...
That was my thought as well. I watched a video () and it seems pretty simple except for one thing. The guy in the video has full access to the cables as if the walls were removed. I am not sure how easy that would be. Does anyone have a pointer to that part of the process? Is it simply a...
It's electric. I found a manual at http://manuals.heartlandowners.org/Slide_Outs/Rooms/BAL/accuslide_service-manual.pdf andI found the adjustments but they are pretty difficult to get to. I am not sure how much I have to dismantle to get to it.
Also, while checking around I realized that one...
My fireplace in my 2010 Landmark works OK except that the fan is not running or at least running so slow that I can't tell if any air is coming out. How hard is it to pull the fireplace and check/replace the fan?
On my Landmark 2010 I suddenly have a problem with the bedroom slide. It seems to extend all the way but when I try to close the bedroom door the bottom of the door hits the frame and won't close. This happened once before and I simply brought it back in a few inches, extended it again and it...
Wow. That might have been what we needed if we knew about it while we were still in Kentucky. Unfortunately we had to get back to Canada and it was cold here and we started rushing some decisions.
It may be that the people working on the furnace made it worse but at this point I am going to...
The guy did check the thermostat.
It was blown but we replaced it. I do not believe that it was blown when the first guy started looking at it.
Everything else on DC is working fine.
It was the control board that I first started looking for because that's what the first guy said was the...
