Tought I would start a thread on my experience about the flexing of my front frame on the 2009 3500 RL.
I have been in communication with Art at Heartland.
My unit is now 6 years old so very iffy for heartland or Lippert taking responsibility.
My observation is that the floor under the bedroom...
Today I checked the caulking on the unit and to my disappointment the left rear wall section has rotted out about 2 ft wide top to bottom. Everything is solid around the window and the roof. To my surprize there was very little wool and it and it was wet. The insulation starts above the...

I was washing the roof yesterday and noticed the cover missing on the attic vent in front of the skylite over the shower of our 2009 BC 3500RL.
Its not a plumbing vent, Its the attic vent and it has a nut holding a cover over a screened part
About 4 in in diameter.
Who makes it and is it...
I noticed that my top brackets on my manual awning had pulled out the fastners.
This morning I checked it out and drilled new holes to install the brackets properly and in no way did I hit any support other then the wood and fibre siding materials. The awning rail is also just screwed in the...
Last weekend I went to change the oil on our Toyota Matrix and discovered that the drain plug was only hand tight. The car has been driven by the wife for the past summer, and in no way I was to know that the mechanic that changed the oil did not tighten the drain plug properly.
I shook for...

We were camp for a week in a field while attending a Ballooning festival and a camper came up with a great idea to keep using water while his water tank ran dry. His unit had a direct tankfill connection and he was unable to fill the tank with a funnel.
His solution was to use a 5gal jub and...
Last week while cleaning the lower fridge grill the plastic hose broke to pieces and ended to short to be extending outside the cover.
I was able to remove the hose from the fridge drain fitting while the DW held the drain fittng in the fridge.
bought 3 ft of 1/2in clear hose and a 1/2" pex...
I opened the access door to the basement this afternon to clean up to go to an other trip and the basement was flooded again.
This has happened for the 3rd time in 8 months. But this time was on the curb side and the line to the washing machine was driping cold water.
It was leaking behind the...
When we arrived from a 2000 miles return trip from florida we noticed that the extension on the end of the cupboard had broken both hinges and was flopping at the end of the support.
I then realized the weight of this top and figured there was no use just replacing the hinges.
Traveling...
I just read this on one of the PowerStroke Forum.
This is why I recommend we need our own gauges as I have been using for the last 4 years.
EOT&ECT how many 6L owners know about this
Yesterday my son and I took a trip to Calgary Alberta to buy a truck for him, armed with a scanner, this is...
No Fault to Heartland but I got in trouble today.
While pouring water in a bucket, using the outside shower I later found out that the basement storage got all wet. Everything on the floor got wet and for a while I blamed it on the rain.
After looking for a leak at the water piping area, I...
There is an Elridge 27RLSS owner here that tows his unit with a Ram 1500 with air bags.
I feel that I should warn him of the consiquences of towing this trailer with the 1/2 Ton but first I wanted to feel what others have experience towing these units.
All the info I found is that the unit has a...
I wish I would have had a camara yesterday when I saw this Toyota Prius parked at Advance Auto Parts in Homossasa Springs yesterday.
The car had a 1500 watt powerplant attached to the rear of the car. There was a cord attached that I think was used to charge the batteries of the Prius. It was...
During our trip down to Florida we encountered many 12 volts system hickups and was able to restore everything. It was all caused due to the furnace killing all the batteries. The furnace did not heat for 2 days, the fridge stopped working and the last thing that failed was the Range fan motor...
I have the scangaugeII on my truck all the time and do all kinds of observations.
The unit can be calibrated at every fillup and is not a lier gauge like the trucks have installed at the factory as an option. With the truck stock the fuel flow is at 100%, at 37Hp setting its 143% and at 80 HP...
This fall I did a coolant flush after 100K miles, on my truck and found a lot of rust and sludge in the coolant.
I knew then that I was in trouble, and proceded to check some of the things that creates this mess in the coolant.
At that time I added an EC-1 (cat Approved) compatible ELC...
Not sure if its the proper place and here it is.

Here is the tracks I did this morning when I pulled my trailer in the field before the rain comes.
I used the 4 x 4 to pull it out and the truck never spinned on the grass and the trailer left these tracks. I knew when I parked it in the spring I had to have a dry spell in order to take the...
Today my wife told me that the stuff under the kitchen sink was getting wet.
I looked at the center of the sink where the counter and the sink are together and noticed that the counter is seperating from the sink.
I look under, and saw that the sink is hanging from the bottom of the...
Not sure where to place this
The other day I found my plaque on the ground by the ladder of my trailer.
The 4 push pins on the holder had failed and the plaque had fallen off.
I reinstalled it with 4 SS 1/4" screws and locknuts similar to licence plate fasteners.
Hope this helps other...
We purchased the Unit in August 2010 , and the unit was manufactured in March 2009. The unit was in possession of the dealer during that time.
While reading posts about the spring problems, and my experience with the last unit I became conscious that the 7000 Lbs axles could also give me some...
In the summer I was able to modify the King bed frame to fit our new Queen size bed.
I narrowed the frame on one side by 12" and centered the bed frame on the center of the slide.
While I had the frame appart I took the chance to lift the front of the bed by 1 1/2" so my head would be up...
We move the chairs to the side and the Sofa to the back, and everytime we closed the slides we had to move the sofa back to the side because the sofa is 36" wide and the space is 32" wide.
So we are tipping the sofa back and removed the bottom back legs and voila it fits.
Sure is easier...
I will be installing a stronger rod on my BC tomorrow. I was at Home Depot, and found an 8 foot long strong rod and strong steel ends, and will be installing it tomorrow.
The rod and shelve is bending with all the load and I am sure a stronger rod will prevent all this bending and assure the...
I was just reading this Pastport Of American News Blast and noticed the photographs location of the article, an other plus for HL.

This summer I realized I had one bad battery one my truck. It was not the first time that the batteries fail on this truck, it was 3rd set of batteries. So I did a complete check of the charging system and found out that the 2nd Alternator was bad. So I took the unit to an alternator shop and...
I was looking at the new 3500RL at a dealer and noticed a new compartment just ahead of the kitchen slide on the road side. Its a filler under the floor and outside the frame, Its about 8 x 8 x 24 and with a small access door. I looked at my 2009 and made a note that I could have one on each...
I have spent the month of october and 1/2 of november in the trailer and was very comfortable in the cold. While parked I build an insulated box with an open top that I placed over the Drain pipe and valve. Even on Mornings in the low 20's I never experienced any freezing on the unit, and I...
I have not used my outside speakers for a while now because one of the speakers is hissing like its failing. I looked on Ebay and they sell the same units at 19.95 a pair. There is a 49, and a 79 Pairs also available by Jensen's. Has anyone upgraded these units so far, I am about to upgrade...
My trailer is now only 3 months of ownership and the bulbs are failing already, I replaced a tail light and many 1141's inside and one 1156 on the security light. On the security light I put in an 1141 to drop the heat inside the unit. Lights the yard ok so far. The bulbs are all turning...
During our trip south the pocket door broke the stop screw in the pocket and derailed in the pocket. I was able to reinstall the door and locked it open with 2 screws. The screws holding the kitchen pantry were to long and the door was damaged by the screws. Why does a company allow the workers...
I have done a lot of complaining about my unit, but one thing that I do brag about is the drivability of my unit. I am amazed at the ease of handling this trailer in the hills, and specialy going downhill. With my previous 5th Wheel I usualy had to pull it down the small grades, but this unit...
I have been traveling the east coast on my way to Florida, and while driving on I84 to Scranton PA my trailer brakes started to jam the wheels so hard that I could not put the brakes on the truck without draging the wheels at normal setting of 70%. So I removed the front right side wheel and...
Today while draining my gray tanks I noticed the belly was so far down that there was a big opening across the area where it was fasten to the cross plate. It was big enough that a cat could have got in. I proceeded to drop the belly sheet and noticed it was the tank pushing down on the sheet...
I was parked in Sussex, Pine Cone RV Park, at the beginning of the month of September and there was 3 HL 5th Wheels at the front of the park. There was no one on location, and I was not able to taulk to the owners.
