Heartland Expands! - Move planned to new site.

Your forum admins, Jeff Torsrud and Jim Beletti toured the Heartland RVs factory in Elkhart, IN last week. We're still in the process of posting things we learned, but something we wanted to pass along now is that while at the factory, Scott Tuttle, Heartland's VP of Marketing showed us a recent newspaper article (click on thumbnail image below this post) that told about Heartland's recent purchase of a 50,000 square foot, 2 year old state-of-the-art building from PalmAire.

This is great news for prospective owners as Heartland should end up with the ability to produce more trailers with even better quality in 2005 and beyond.

ELKHART -- Heartland Recreational Vehicles LLC, a new entry in the RV industry earlier this year, is moving to a larger facility on the city's north side.

The fifth-wheel trailers manufacturer is buying the former Palm Aire factory at 1001 All Pro Drive. The company hopes to take possession of the two-year-old, state-of-the-art building in two weeks and move within 45 to 60 days. The building has 50,000 square feet under roof and sits on eight acres.

Brian Brady, president and CEO of Heartland, announced the move Thursday.

Heartland opened in the first quarter of this year in a leased facility on Paul Drive.

"This move will allow Heartland to accommodate our phenomenal growth and enable us to accelerate our very aggressive two-year roll-out campaign, which, as the result of tremendous support of our dealers and hard work and dedication of our employees, is ahead of schedule," Brady said.

Heartland debuted with its Landmark series and its success prompted developing other products, he said.

"Heartland is under considerable pressure from our dealers to expand our product offerings. They want a greater bandwidth from Heartland, which is causing us to be in perpetual product development," Brady said.

The new product will be displayed at the national RV show in Louisville.

Heartland employs approximately 75 employees in the production of high end fifth wheels. The trailers retail in the range of $60,000 to $70,000.
