Check out the RV Professor, Terry Cooper, at his website. He has several free and some pay for info to help you with your project. He even offers courses on RV Technician. Should be a project you can do yourself with the right knowledge. http://mobilervacademy.com/

Also, check out the Wiki articles on this forum. There are some good articles on basic maintenance and repair of furnaces, hot water heaters, etc. Most of the preventative maintenance tasks are fairly easy for the layman to do. More difficult tasks may require a service tech. A lot will depend on your own level of "skill" and/or willingness to try it yourself. Of course, anything still under warranty is always a good task for a tech, if for no other reason than to avoid voiding your warranty.

The warranty from Dometic on our fridge requires annual inspection. We had a Dometic- certified tech do ours. It seems like a waste since everything seemed to be working fine. Since our rig was built, Dometic changed their preferred venting/fans for our model fridge. The tech had the bulletin on it. Even though we are beyond our warranty, he contacted Heartland, they agreed the changes were needed to ensure long life of our fridge, and they paid him to do the changes. I'm really glad we had him here to do the inspection!
