Tie downs on electric powered awning

On my old camper I had a manual awning, and used tie downs for windy days. Is it safe to use tie downs on an electric powered awning? Is anyone doing this?

Well, yes, BUT------ depends on how much wind !! and for how long. Granted you can't tie these electric awnings down as secure as the manuals. What I do is compress the awning shocks all the way down so the awning is low, then use straps to hold the awning to the frame of the coach. I have to be careful not to open up the door all the way because it hits on the awning fabric. Again, this is for short term and NOT tornado like winds. If in dought, roll it in with a simple push of a button. Just my method, others will have there method.
