Black Tank Leak

For the second time in 2 years sewage water was found on top of the black
water tank and on floor of basement. The first time it occurred I just
cleaned and dryed the top of tank and floor. This time its more serious
with lots of sewage water making its way under the tank and onto the insulation .
I dropped the plastic bottom to allow the water to drain and removed the wet
insulation.
I think it may be a leak at the vent tube connection on the tank as this only
occurs when the tank is almost full.Has anyone else had a similar problem?

On our 06 Landmark, I found that the threaded fitting for the vent had sheared off for the black tank. Was lucky, had not had a chance to leak yet, just noticed when I was nosing around. I was able to get the threaded part removed from the tanks and glue a new one in.

The leaking only occurs when,as my wife says,I let the tank over fill. Was you able to do
the repair without removing the tank?

I did the repair through the basement access under the shower. I had to remove the water pump and cut a hole in the floor under the water pump. Pretty easy to do, getting to it was the biggest pain. Your floor plan may be different, but the process should be similar. I used PVC I picked up at the lumber yard. The system is ABS, ( black plastic ), it is the same size dimensionally as PVC. You will have to use universal glue to glue them together, just use the cleaner/primer and glue them together.
