We are planning a quick "loop" through Colorado and are looking for some roads we have not seen yet. Colorado rte. 72 the peak to peak highway thru the national park looks like an interesting route from Estes Park to Central City.

According to my wife I will drive down roads not meant to be traveled by large loads and this is meant to be a relaxing short hop from CG to CG. Has anybody run this route, as I am curious about grades, low overheads, and other things that will make "she that must be obeyed" unhappy.

Thanks for any advice

Yes, I agree, you will not have any problems on the Peak to Peak highway. The highway is pretty tame. There is a nice RV park in Estes Park and right next to Rocky Mountain National Park. Just outside of Central City, there is a new KOA but I have never stayed there. In my opinion, the absolute best time to stay in Estes Park is in September to witness the Elk rut.
