Winter Travel and Camping

Do campers typically travel directly to their destination in the Winter? If not, where do you camp along the way if the campgrounds on your route aren't open until Spring? We live in Colorado and would most likely not take interstate highways.

We go from central Texas to Colorado in the winter. We stay at year round campgrounds in Lubbock, TX and Raton, NM. Where are you headed?

We will be heading down co285 towards Santa Fe or there abouts. I would like to visit Los Alamos.

If you go to Woodalls.com you can search for campgrounds that are open year-round. It's in the additional options.
