awning for slide out

when we bought our 2012 181, out dealer tried to get us to buy an awning for the slide out. He had good arguments, but we weren't convinced. Any of you experienced MPG owners have any experience/feedback on the cover for the slideout?

I have covers on all three of my slideouts, the covers stops rain water from puddling on top of the slideout. It also stops leaves and sticks from catching on the rubber seal around the top of slideout.

In all the years slide outs have been available, I've never had one covered. I guess it depends on how well the slide roof drains. The roof of the rig is crowned so no water stands. The slide roof water should run off but some don't and black spots start appearing on the rubber membrane. After a few years they don't come off. If I ever buy another trailer, it will have slide toppers.
