Almost had an Electrical Fire

I have a 2 month old North Trail 26LRSS .
On our third trip we were lucky to be in our trailer when the housing around our electric panel began to melt.
Quick action to shut off main breaker stopped the smoking.Six white wires were charred for the first inch and the insulator was
charcoal. The plastic housing was bubbled in this area.
The factory boys had not screwed the main common white wire terminal tight. As it sat loose in the fitting it gradually
carbonned up, then turned into an element. We were minutes away from a major fire.

When the power is off every one should pull on all the white wires in the electric panel to see that they are tight.
We also had to fix the main burner alignment on our gas water heater.
Dealer is replacing the whole electric panel under warranty but the scare was not compensated for.

We love our trailer just not impressed with quality control on important items.

Good luck to others

Hi gbmusi,

This sounds like quite a scare. Glad to hear you're ok and the dealer understands the corrective action.

Be sure and check all of the connections. I found several loose and one that was just set on the terminal in front of the nut to hold it on.
