decal removal

I have a decal where my rear stabilizers are-passenger side rear. I removed the top of the decal as it was peeling. I cannot get the glue off under the decal. It is very thick. What will remove it? I have tried just about everything I can think of.

WD-40. If it is like mine, it is on the painted metal, just spray it on heavy, let it stand for about 5-10 minutes, then wipe off with Paper towels. Good luck...

We had glue residue inside from removing the wall border decals. None of the goo-gone type products helped at all. Someone recommended
Pure Citrus Orange Air Freshener Aerosol. Yes it's an air freshener, but it took the glue right off. I think it came from Walmart.
