2014 elkridge toilet leak

I have developed a leak on the back where the water comes up to the toilet, there is a plastic connector and it is leaking back out on the threads. I have checked the fitting and it seems tight, being plastic I used no wrench just my hand. It drips very little, but enough to dampen a wash rag in a 24hr period. My question is should I take it apart and try Teflon tape or is there some type of rubber seal in that fitting that could be bad? It is a Thetford style II high. The line I talk about is the one delivers water from pump or city water to the toilet.

Shut off the water supply, disconnect and inspect, then reattach. Sometimes that's all it takes if there is no damage. Teflon tape doesn't really seal, it just makes the fitting go on easier.
