Someone just mentioned 12V Lithium Ion batteries for RV and boat and I started looking up some information. There are a few supplies and Progressive now makes Lithium Ion Converter/Chargers.

So, I was wondering what the state of the art is now with Lithium ion systems including solar. They charge most efficiently with 14.6 volt lithium ion chargers rather than 13.6 volt lead acid chargers, though the lead acid chargers will with most.

Other than being extremely expensive batteries than last much longer and are lighter for the same capacity, what do we as a community know about these systems?

Can't say much about the batteries, but as far as solar charging, my controller is completely programmable and can charge Li batteries just fine.

Yup, all I have to do is set a few dip switches and i'm ready to go.I can even program it to custom charge curves if I want to get into it with a PC.

What chargers are those?

Also, for Lithium ion it is best to NOT trickle charge.
