Vent Cap

I was attempting to replace the vent caps on the rooftop, the cap says pull off the remove. I tried but it seems to be anchored on one side. This side has a hole filled with putty. Do I need to remove the putty and loosen a screw or is there some other trick to removing the vent covers. I don't want to force the cover off

I think you answered your own question. Just stick a square drive screw driver down thru the putty and back out the screw. Or you can dig out the putty to get a look see first, to make sure its a square drive. But I'll bet you a dollar.

It's definitely a screw. I just followed the "pull off' directions and ended up with a cracked vent cap. However, I just stuck it back on and it hasn't shaken loose in a few thousand miles.
