North Texas Chapter - Hi all - we are NEW!

Hi everyone - we are brand new - bought a North Trail 26 foot on Friday - haven't even taken delivery yet - we are trying to learn EVERYTHING and fast - planning to take a quick newbie trip out into East Texas somewhere - and then planning to spend time around the holidays down in the Rockport area - if anyone has any recommendations for parks we would really appreciate it!! and restaurants!! and things to do/see and and and........by the way - is it worth it to join the Good Sam club? or another club? they seem to offer discounts but.....again......we are new and don't know how everything works. We are SOOOOO excited with our new mobile hotel room - and will be travelling with our ""little girls"" (ShihTsu's) Ellie May and Maggie - woo hoo!!! Watch out........here we come!!!:D

Hi BarnhartRV,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners forum and family. I'm sure you will love your new North Trail. When you go for delivery, be sure and do a really good PDI just to make sure everything works and you can work everything.

If your going to be in the Rockport area be sure and check out the forum and also facebook for some Heartland folks that get together every week or so for a dinner or just to talk. We might even get down that way ourselves.

Enjoy the forum and your new unit.

In Rockport a group of Heartland Owners meet and eat once a week. Be sure and watch this forum when you get there and join us.

Check out Mill Creek Ranch Resort in Canton, TX. A great park to enjoy your North Trail. (Note, may be full of it's First Monday Trade Days weekend).

Welcome Barnharts! We're HOC members just west of you in Joshua (for now)! We love the Rockport area too. So far Goose Island State Park is the only place we've camped in that area.

A majority of privately owned, non-KOA RV parks offer a Good Sam discount. If you figure that to be about $3 a night (typically 10% on a $30 a night site), then it would pay for itself in about eight nights of camping ($25 a year for a Good Sam membership). It also gives you discounts on various Camping World purchases.

If you get a membership, sign up for one year. Camping world often offers fairly good incentives for adding more years to your membership at checkout.

Welcome Barnhart's! You can learn alot of hands on info at a rally! Unfortunately, you just missed the Fall North TX rally in Bullard. We are having the Spring rally in Weatherford April 1-3, 2016.

In ETX check out KE Bushmans camp in Bullard. That is the park where we had the NTX rally mentioned above. Bullard is just south of Tyler on US 69. Very nice park.

Congrats on your new NT. That thing is the perfect size for one of the Texas State Parks wdith full hook ups. We enjoyed the SPs because you had more space at your sites and generally better scenery and more for the kids to do. There is a nice on near Tyler. I don't remember the name but you can look at the Texas State Park website and find it. Enjoy that new rig and hope to run into you one day. Later and have a great day.
