I believe that RV dewinterizing is pretty universal for any Rv, however, you should be able to download the owners manual for your particular RV right from the Heartland website. The manual should have all the info you should need.

So we got through it all with a friend. Thank you for your replies. Still hoping there was instructions specific to our model. Wish those were included when purchasing. But, now, we can't get hot water. So I did print off the Water Heater guide and hubby will run through. Always something!

Make sure you have water in the hot water tank BEFORE trying to turn on the electrics to the hot water tank. This means ensuring the BYPASS valves are not in BYPASS, and you have filled the tank (run hot water tap until air is gone).

[Otherwise you may burn out the electric element if no water]

If you are getting luke warm water instead of hot water, you probably haven't closed the bypass valve.

See the pipe in the center that is blue on the bottom and red on the top?

That is the bypass . . . you'll need to close the valve in the middle of that pipe to get hot water.

Thanks, but we checked and it is closed.

On a North Trail, the water heater bypass is probably 3 separate valves: on on the cold water line going into the bottom of the water heater, a second on the hot water line coming out of the water heater, and a third that crosses over between those 2 lines. When de-winterizing, the hot and cold lines get opened and the crossover gets closed.

Also check the outside shower and make sure the faucets are turned off. If on, even if the sprayhead is closed, the hot and cold water will mix, giving you tepid water inside.

On the outside of the water heater, under the cover, there's a temperature/pressure relief valve. If you carefully open that valve by lifting the lever (good idea to use a tool in case the water is really hot), hot water should come out (if you're hooked up to a water faucet).

If you get cold water coming out the relief valve, the heating element is not ON or not working. Try running it on propane/12V. If that works, and you have a Suburban Water Heater, our Water Heater Troubleshooting Guide will help you diagnose the problem.

So the culprit turned out to be the ignitor switch (located on outside of camper). It was not aligned. No idea how it got that way or how it can get misaligned, but it did. Thanks everyone for your posts to help.

Here's a pic of the switch.

Can you post a link to these owners manuals on the Heartland website?
