We are looking to upgrade from our 18 ft Micro Lite to a North Trail 31 bhdd. Question about the weight of this Camper. What is the correct dry weight? Website shows 6399 and a dealer has it at 7052. Big difference between the 2. We have a 2016 Silverado Crew Cab 4x2, 5.3 and 3.42 gears. A friend who is awesome with numbers says we can do it without a problem. Any input on the towing of this with our truck and what do owners think of this camper?

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum.

The website dry weight spec is based on a prototype unit that may not include everything that normally ships, and never includes the weight of options. For example, there may be options ordered by the dealer that add to the weight. There also sometime are "forced options" that ship with every North Trail, but not necessarily with a private brand version of that trailer sold by dealers in Canada or at a large U.S. chain. And the forced options can change over time.

The dealer is probably reading the yellow sticker on the door frame. That is the weight as the trailer rolled out the factory door. It's quite common for the actual weight to be higher than the spec weight.

Check the yellow sticker on the door frame for that unit's dry weight out the door from the factory. If dealer installs items (like slide toppers or bigger propane tanks or a washer/dryer,) those won't be included in the dry weight.

You'll never use your trailer dry, so it's best to look at GVWR of the trailer -- the maximum loaded weight the trailer can be. Then figure if your truck has the proper capacity to tow that.
