    Bedroom Panel under vanity fix

When we brought our unit home, we went down lots of bumpy roads to shake it up and see what happened. One thing we found was the large panel at the bottom of the bedroom vanity that has the heater vent outlet had popped off. Further investigation of the other units on the dealer lot showed the panels actually came loose in transit to the dealer.

The factory used the 1/8 cabinet siding for the panel and attached it to the 1/8 panel of the vanity with 4 wood screws. The screws ripped right out. My solution was to cut two 28" long by 2.25" pieces of 1/2 inch plywood, attach them at the top and bottom inside the cabinet with screws into the 1/8 inch vanity panel, then use new screws to attach the vent panel to the plywood in 6 places (3 on top, 3 on the bottom).

The next test pull it all held together tight!

We've had some of these screws come out. Putting wood screws in 1/8" "wood" is not too smart. Fortunately, we are do-it-yourself(ers) and have reinforced many of the outlets in areas that would be plugged and unplugged.
