    New Linksys EVDO Router. Yawn.

Linksys has released a new revision of their Sprint EVDO router that does improve upon the first version. Full review is available online.

In addition to supporting every Sprint PCMCIA card that has ever been released, with the use of a PCMCIA to ExpressCard adapter, the router also supports the EX720 and 597E Expresscards and it now has USB ports to support devices like the U720, U727, AirCard 595U and Compass 597.

However... aside from an ability to display great details about your EVDO connection via admin, the support for additional devices is about all thats good with this new router. It still uses WiFi G instead of WiFi N and still only has four 10/100 ethernet ports, and still comes from a pair of companies who are slow to release bugfixes or firmware updates.

I can ONLY recommend the new Linksys to those customers with OLDER Sprint PCMCIA cards like the S620/PC5740 who are not ready to upgrade to newer devices and take advantage of superior cradlepoint routers.

    Just stinkin out loud.

Ok then make a suggestion for me,I have a U727 and want a router that my GF and I can connect to wireless?

It would be great if we could have enough range to have the router inside the trailer and connect sitting outside,I am ready to purchase now send me a link

If it were my money, i'd get this router with its powerful WiFi-N radio:

however, there are many RV customers who have success with this smaller and less expensive CTR500 router, even set up in 5er with laptop in TV:

which one you get depends on whether space the router takes is more important than wireless range to and from the router.

btw - me too. I've been telecommuting on mine for a few months now and recently added an external antenna. It's been a very solid and reliable tool.

I found security easy to implement and I just looked at the logs the other day. In our campground there are literally thousands of attempts to connect that are rejected each month... So turning up the security is worth it for sure.

shortly after originally answering your question, we decided to finish off an article that has taken a few weeks to write because we never find the time to get it all done in one sitting. now that its done, i figured that others who might come across this thread may benefit from the article:
