    Hi Wonder05,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum.

Finding a never used 2012 trailer sounds pretty extraordinary.

A 2012 trailer may have been built as early as first-half of 2011, so the trailer may be 7 years old. There are some age-related things that you should consider. If this is on a dealer lot, it may never have gotten any maintenance at all.

No matter how it's been stored, all the caulking and sealants around lights, markers, A/C unit, fans, skylights, etc. all needs to be re-done. The tires have aged out, regardless of how they look. If they're claimed to be replacement tires, check the date code stamped on the tire sidewall. The wheel bearings need to be repacked (not just have grease added). You need to inspect very closely for any signs of water intrusion/delamination around the exterior, and any signs of water intrusion inside.

Re: 2012 North Trailer 29buds caliber edition what do I need to know?

Here's a link to the NADA page for the 29Buds.

One way to look at it is, if it has really never been sold, you're buying a 2012 trailer that is close to like-new condition. If you have to do a little caulking and get new tires and have the bearings packed, maybe you'll spend $1000 additional.

I'd call Heartland Customer Service at 877-262-8032 / 574-262-8030. Get the VIN # for the trailer and find out if it has ever been registered with another owner. And if Heartland confirms it's new, you should discuss warranty coverage. Some items, like appliances, are warranted by the appliance manufacturer. You'll want to ensure you will actually have warranty coverage given that it's so old.

This is all pretty important because there is no warranty for 2nd owners.

Re: 2012 North Trailer 29buds caliber edition what do I need to know?

If you do consider purchasing, look not only for maintenance and weather issues but also for any damage repaired or unrepaired. There is good reason that this is nearing 7 years old and supposedly never sold. It could have been transferred or resold via dealer auctions. It could have been damaged, a showroom model or even a customer return that was sold then returned but never registered.

Inspect the unit very closely. Hidden damage or repairs may indicate more headaches than the savings.

You might even check with various major parts manufacturers and verify that they will honor warranty or if they are even still in business. Examples that you may want to verify. some common manufacturers are listed. Water heater(suburban or atwood), Furnace(suburban or atwood), Refrigerator(Dometic, Norcold), Air Conditioner(Dometic, Coleman, Carrier(no longer makes RV Air units and parts hard to find).
