In March, 2019, we had several repairs made to our 6 year old 5th wheel trailer. We paid around $4,000 for all the repairs - reasonable price for what was done. On a trip this month, our automatic leveling system became inoperable (had not been on scope of work in March). We called to arrange an appointment for repair/replacement only to be told that they were now limiting repairs and services to trailers they sold. Our trailer was purchased at a dealership in of Richmond, VA (the area where we lived at the time) so it is logistically a nightmare to return there. We were able to get the needed repair done after speaking with a Lippert representative, but discovered during the process that the cause of the failure was due to a screw being drilled into a crucial sensor of the leveling system during the repairs in March.


Moral of the story, don’t expect help from these people if you don’t purchase there and don’t expect any help when they create other problems.

Most all RV sales operations are just that - and "service" is a poor stepchild required to be there as part of the contract to sell a RV manufacturer's products. Service is primarily there to do the Pre Delivery Inspections (PDI's) and correct the manufacturers errors found during those inspections as part of a sale. Most all RV sales operations do not expect their service operation to add substantially to the business's bottom line.

Find yourself an independent (no RV sales) RV repair business to do your work. They do timely work to keep the cash flow going, depend on good will with their customers for repeat business and word of mouth recommendations. Heartland Service will work with these independents on warranty issues with prior authorization.
