2011 End Cap Chalking problem (maybe ?) solved

We have a grey 2011 Big Country with the infamous end cap chalking problem. (If you have it, you know of where I speak.)

Over the past years I have treated it regularly with a combination of Meguires "One Step Compound 67" and their "Flagship Marine Wax". This brings back a "reasonable" shine, but it usually starts looking chalking again within a few weeks. And is a LOT of rubbing!

Friend of mine with a fiberglass boat recommended an additional step. A day or so (he says pick a cool cloudy day) after the above treatment, he puts on two applications of "CMX Ceramic Spray Coating". It's kind of spendy, about $22 for a spray bottle, but I'm cautiously optimistic that it might work.

About a month ago I treated my front cap to my normal Meguires 2-step routine, then two applications of the CMX stuff. Here's a photo taken this morning, and the front is still looking quite nice. Without the CMX it would already have started to look chalky. Keeping my fingers crossed.
