No shore power

Have a 2008 Sundance 2900mk and have no shore power to the breaker box. Shore power outlet tests fine and a no contact voltage tester shows power in the power cord going
into the back of the rig. It also picks up low single through out the body but absolutely no signal anywhere in the breaker box. DC power works fine but the battery is not
charging. Thinking it could be the inverter/converter but cant get to it easily. Has anyone had this problem and or knows how to remove the wall in the basement behind
the inverter. Thanks for any input.

Hi dbmattern,

Unless it was added after purchase, you don't have an inverter that changes 12V DC to 120V AC. But you do have a Converter that changes 120V AC to 12V DC to charge the batteries and provide power to interior lights and appliances.

The loss of 120V AC power at the circuit breakers would cause the Converter to stop working - no charge to the battery. That would allow the battery to run down and once it does, none of your 12V DC stuff would work.

I would start at the connector where the shore power cord plugs into the trailer. You may have a bad contact there, or a loose wire, or heat damage from a loose connection. If that looks ok, the next place to check would be the back side of the circuit breaker panel.

Dan:
Would a Sundance have an automatic transfer switch relay for an optional generator? How about a cable reel? Both of these have electrical contacts that have been known to fail. OP might want to check immediately behind the power input jack for loose wiring. BTW, do the power input prongs look OK? - No corrosion or heat deterioration.

Bill - Sundance doesn't have a power cord reel option.

I too would suspect the power cord and the power inlet.

Unless a prior owner added an inverter and/or transfer switch, that's probably not a concern here - until we learn more about the AC wire path from the owner.

What type of outlet are you plugged into, is it the correct voltage for your trailer?
