Tow Hitch for a Mallard M32

Hi everyone, kind of a long shot but here goes...

Was wondering if anyone had a newer Mallard M32, and what model hitch you used with it if anyone doesn't mind sharing. We bought a 2021 and found out the hard way that the bars on our old weight-distributing hitch aren't long enough to reach the spot where they had to mount the brackets on the camper, due to the placement of the propane tanks and electrical stuff.

So if anyone has a similar setup and wants to share what they're using, it would be much appreciated. The dealership has been less than helpful so far unfortunately.

Thanks!

Looks similar to our North Trail 33 BUDS. We have an equalizer. What hitch do you currently have?

We have an e2 hitch, I think it's the 8000lb model (it was a North Trail that we bought it for a few years back). They recommend mounting the brackets 24-27" from the ball but there's an electrical box on the Mallard (inside of the frame, half under the propane tank and half behind it) blocking that spot and the closest they can go is about 30".

I did take some pictures but it doesn't look like I have permission to post them. Here's the best stock photo I could find: https://images.rvs.com/GRV/1772584/1000x/2021_heartland_mallard_m32_grv1772584_4.jpg

Thanks!

After enough posts you can post pictures. I’ll bet you’re close.

We have the E4, 10,000/1,000. Seems to me my brackets are 32” back. I’ll measure when I get home. Where did you measure from?

32” sounds like it would work pretty well actually. I was measuring from the center of the ball, at 30” now with a little room to move further out.

Not much real estate to work with...

I guess not. Here is a picture of where my brackets are mounted on my Equalizer 4. 30” from the center of the ball.

Oh, looks like the brackets are supposed to be 32” back, but can go forward up to 27”.

Moved on to the next thing...
It's really hard to recommend a WDH setup without knowing what your tow vehicle is.

I know this is an old post but I have a 2021 m32 and use an e2 hitch with brackets mounted at 27”. See pictures.
