The bottom outlet on my fresh water tank is leaking. Looks like the outlet is pulling away at the top of outlet. Can this outlet be replaced or does the tank have to be replaced?

There are a couple ways to repair a crack in a tank. They involve welding ( melting ) a strip of polyethylene repair material to the cracked area. You can do this with hot air or a polyethylene repair welder.

When
I used to snow ski. we used to repair the bottom of our skis with a stick of polyethylene that we melted with a lighter and let it drip on our skis. We later shaped the drip to the ski bottom.

Harbor Freight sells the welder.

All the outlets on the water tank look like they have been glued in. when I weld the crack around the outlet, do you think the glue will contaminate the weld?

We had a crack on the bottom of the fresh tank supply “outlet”. It was discovered during our one year warranty, we think caused by the location, being to close to a metal structure and flex in the tank upon filling. Heartland authorized replacing the whole tank, and sent us the tank to have it done locally. Since we were fulltime, we never could get time to take it in for the repair, so when we were going to Elkhart for another issue, we took the tank with us and Heartland replaced the tank. They also relocated it back about 4” from its original location to avoid the flexing/metal contact altogether.
