Fresh Water Connections

We have a 2017 Heartland Elkridge E292. It has 3 water connections, the top I know is the gravity fed type, but the 2 others had me confused and I flooded the bottom of our trailer! Now I know that the bottom connection is the one to use without flooding us out. This may be just pure ignorance. No. I’m sure it is! What is the purpose of the other connection? Is it just to fill the tank? If so, how do I know when it’s full? Again, please forgive my ignorance.

The large one as you've found is the gravity fill opening for the fresh tank.

You'll also have a city water connection to supply campground water directly to the fixtures without using the pump and fresh tank.

And you'll have a black tank flush connection.

Often, there's a diagram on the inside of the door of the pass through basement storage, identifying which is which.
