Anybody ever converted to disc brakes as a DIY?

When you talk to Mor/Ryde, give them the serial# on the actuator. There have been at least 2 recalls on the Carlisle that I know of. They will be able to tell you if it is on the recall list.

For the past couple of months I have researched putting disc brakes on my 2011 Big Country. The more I research the more confused I become. I have done a lot of things in my life but this task just seems to overwhelm me. There are 2 different distributors near me so getting the parts is not an issue. I climbed under my camper and looked on the back side of the axles for the serial numbers but the rust and Alaska dirt must have them completely covered up. If I had helper that had done the job then perhaps I would not be so overwhelmed. Brakes are pretty important in the grand skeam of things and would be catastrophic if not done correctly. Most things I have done are not life threatning if not done correctly....I guess it just must be the fear of the unknown....

Brakes are easy. Take your time and you can get it done. Don't rush. But in the end if you don't know and are worried then have a professional do them for you.

The challenge is not finding parts. The challenge is finding ALL the parts then finding someone you have confidence in that can talk you through a problem when it rises.
The conversion itself is not difficult if you have all the parts to complete the job. But, it does take some time. If a shop is going to charge you 10 hours @$100 per hr. then you should expect
the job to take you 12-15 hrs.
Divide the job up into 3 days. Day 1, mount & wire the actuator. Day 2, install the hub/rotot assemblies. Day 3, install the brake lines. Don't hurry, take your time.

As a full time retired RV'er whose only job is to assist in disc brake conversions, I can assure you that I supply a complete kit and make myself available to walk you through any issues.
I do not sell, tow bars, refrigerators or toilet paper. Only disc brake systems.
I do seminars at "The Rally", The Escapade, Air Stream Int'l Rally and many RV shows including Quartzsite, Pomona, Denver, Dallas, Austin and many others.

Titan guy you are right about the cost of labor, that is what I have been quoted. I was looking for how to get the wires from the junction box on the 5th wheel hitch to where the actuator will be mounted. I usually think about what and how I am going to do something and after all that preplanning I still have issues.

Fish tape from the pin box back towards the battery compartment will get it done. There are only very few that need to loosen the trim around the front cap to allow the top panel to get a fish tape through.
