class 3 hitch

the class 3 hitch shows a limit of 5000# yet the truck shows it can tow 9300. Do people change out the hitch to a class 4 or just use with class 3? The trailer weight is 6800 dry.

It all changes if you go to a weight distributing type of hitch..They should have two ratings. One with and one without...Don

Don is right, the 5000# rating is for straight pulling without an equalizer. Probably at 10,000 with an EQ hitch.
