dOMETIC THERMOSTAT PLACEMENT

We purchased a 2020 Big County 3902fl. The thermostat in the living area is above the couch beside a window. We live in Texas so the wonderful summer heat has set in. This thermostat does not read correctly and will continuously run thinking it has not reached the set temperture. We have placed reflectix in windows and on the door but this does not seem to help. Any suggestions?

On some Dometic thermostat, you can display what temperature the thermostat is seeing as ambient temp by turning it OFF and then pressing the + or - button.

If the thermostat is in the sun or on an exterior wall next to a window, the ambient temp at the thermostat could be very high, which would explain why it never reaches the set point.

If you remove it from the wall, you can put a heat shield behind it before re-mounting it.

You can also adjust your set point temp taking into account what the ambient temp is. In other words, change the set point temp to the temperature that is comfortable in the coach. On the downside, you might have to change it on a cloudy day or at night.
