Oh, and I did replace the bathroom skylight as ours was all faded and looked like it was just waiting to crack. Bought a tinted Lexan skylight from eztopsworldwide.com

We had this done to our 2015 Big Country when the rubber roof had a defect . It was the best thing I have done. No more sealing the roof or gutters. We still have to scrub it down with a little dawn soap to keep the dirt and grime off but that is all I have had to do.

Am very much looking forward to this. Sadly tho, DD won't accept a wire transfer from our bank to theirs so I could save a cple coins. Drats!

Well the BC is getting her new roof installed this week. Will be picking it up next Sat. Having the skylight covered. Was asked if I wanted to replace our vent covers, told them no as I didn't see anything wrong w/ the ones we have.. They are "blending" in the side (albeit black as w/ rest of trim) to white on top. Last year I had applied some Eternabond tape in a couple places (mainly as pre-caution) and installer said that the tape is really meant to be a temp fix as it can trap moisture and cause more probs than it's supposed to solve. Tho at time of when he called me (this morning....just dropped it off this past Sat), they hadn't removed the rubber roof yet, he said they didn't seem to feel any plywood was in need of replacement. Kinda odd they'd know that w/o it being exposed, but what do I know, I'm just a dumb truck driver. A little more back and forth on paying them, was able to send a check and thus avoid the 3% surcharge of a credit card and save few hundred Benjamin's.

On our roof install, we have Progressive Insurance. I also maintain detail maintenance records on the rig. So, when we went into the shop the Adjuster from Progressive came out and looked at the roof. They called and we discussed a few places where they had seen Eternabond Tape. Progressive looked at the records and the receipts for roof maintenance, then called back and said, "They would cover it under collision, not under our Extended Roof Maintenance Protection Plan." Total cost for us was going to be $250. The Extended Roof would have cost us $5000.

I thought about covering the skylight, but opted not. Yes it will protect it, but it will also block out a lot of light. Installer offered an option of installing an led light strip there. I prefer the natural light. Just my voice.

David-steph,

I didn't have any leaks, just areas I felt needed some extra support as along w/ the chalking along the side where the roof meets the sidewalls. Doubt I could claim anything under insurance especially if no damage was found once rubber roof was removed.

Like some others, the cost is pretty close at $195/linear foot.

CoveredWagon,

Wife and I talked about it (covering the skylight) ion Sun and she said to cover it. There is a light above the shower itself and yes I agree a lot of light will be blocked out with it being covered, less chance of it breaking tho seeing it's 7 years old at this point. Hmmmmmmmm, LED light strip could be added around the top myself and just plug into outlet by sink when needed. Have to look into that. Not a bad idea. Thanks.

We didn't have any leaks either, no issues with the roof. No soft spots, no leaks, just the 3-4 places that had the Eternabond tape on it.

Had our 43 ft Cyclone done November 2023 at DFW RVRoof after we developed separation on a trip, replaced all 3 vents, 2 manual and 1 powered, new vent covers, (4) 3/8” stainless studs for the satellite mounting plate that I supplied, covered the skylight, replaced 6 sq ft of decking, had the sides painted black…….. Insurance denied our claim 🤢 and said “normal wear and tear”….. I’ll admit I slacked on the maintenance and our roof did look pretty bad. You’ll love the new roof!

We had our sdes done in oyster color to match the rig, best option we opted for. Love the Flex Armor roof.
We went through the hurricane at Myrtle Beach last year. I went up on the roof next day to inspect. I found a branch maybe 3" in dia an 3 ft long laying there. It never made a scratch.

Funny on color matching the sides to blend in. Our orig roof is a tannish color that meets up w/ black trim on sidewalls. For some reason tho, I thought they would go tan into white on top, but they are doing black into white cuz of black trim. Guess the roof will "disappear" if you look at it just right......LOL. It's supposed to be done by tomorrow and pick up Sat and was also supposed to get during and after pics while still in shop. Still may, but haven't yet. If not, not a big deal, but would be nice to see the transition. All in all, looking forward for final result and not worry about problems with roof or water intrusion into sidewalls. Oh, also easier to clean and no black streaks from what I gather
