How long an extension cord?

Hello. My RV uses 30 amps. I’m wondering if we can use a 100ft 30 amp cord hooked up from the camper to a 30 amp service box 100ft away? Can we still run the air conditioner?

As long as it's a single 100 ft cord (not two 50 foot) that has at least 10 AWG conductors, you should be okay.

Be sure you watch the voltage at the RV. Depending on the voltage you start with the the voltage drop could be about 6.3 volts for a 10 gauge cord. If you start at 110 volts or less then a full 30 amp draw could be an issue. The AC will typically be around 16 to 18 for one unit, the battery charger about 3 to 6 amp, and the refrigerator could be about 4 to 6 amp for a absorption type.
