I am looking for suggestions for a Home Automation/Security System

I have heard that the Domestic thermostats can not be connected to any automation system. I really need an over temperature alarm to protect my pugs. The intrusion alarm and cameras are a plus. Anybody have suggestions for an all thumbs DIYer?

Would Nest T-stat work in place of your Dometic?
