You might consider just bypassing the drain valve. Unless something's changed, it's not an effective way to drain the system and instead just presents one more thing that can fail when temps drop.

For those who found pin holes, be aware, it can rot the floor.

you could also aways put in t fitting and put valve on 3rd end- i open mine when using compressed air and added one on back of freezer to line to blow from that end to that same valve
