In the water area on a heartland 2015 landmark

I went to pull the grey tank valve, to empty grey tank 1, handle it came off.. looks like a little metal piece holds it on. I am guessing past the nut?

Usually, the handles are screwed on the end. Check to see if you screw it back on, hopefully the threads are not damaged.

Mine has a little pin in it.. I think I got it.. apparently the shaft has a tiny hole as well.. once I aligned it up.. the pin fits.. But, for some reason it fell out, I wonder if this could be an ongoing issue, going forward

See if you can find a cotter pin small enough to fit. If not that maybe a piece of wire bent/wrapped around the handle to keep it from falling back out again.
